The Lantern of the Path

After the Peak of Eloquence by the 1st Imam Ali ibn Talib and the As-Sahiffa As-Sajjadiya with Treatise on Rights by the 4th Imam Ali Zainul Abideen, this is my favorite of the 12er Shia Muslim books of tradition. The Lantern of the Path is attributed to the 6th Imam Ja'far As-Sadiq, though it may have been written by one of his students or later followers. Either way, the Lantern of the Path is composed of chapters on topics of Spiritual Purity which conforms to the Quran and Reason. Any traditional Sunni or Shia Muslim could make use of this book. The chapters seldom are longer than 2 or 3 pages, so this works well for daily devotional use. Besides being considered a pure Islamic leader (Imam) and martyr by 12er and Ismaili Shia Muslims, and the one for whom the Ja'fari school of jurisprudence is named, Ja'far As-Sadiq is also in the lineage of the Naqshbandi Sufi Tarika (order). Even American President Thomas Jefferson, an avid reader of the Quran, consulted the legal rulings of the Jafari School in his law practice, so even non-Muslims may be pleasantly surprised by what they would find in The Lantern of the Path.

Shia purchasers should be aware this book is translated, published, etc by a sect which calls itself sufi rather than by Shia of Ahlul Bayt

Amazon sent me this book twice because the first one was lost in the mail and then found again. Now I have two of such an amazing book! My brother took one for himself this book was delicately translated thank you for the translation

The work is beautiful. I have read a few pages and I love the translated work, this book really brings the work of Imam Jafar (peace of God be upon him) in English. the book came in great condition and I love the design on the covers. All in all, it's perfect
