Great quality food, happy dog!
My dog adores the entire VE line but especially likes this duck formula. We follow a rotational freeze-dried raw diet, and this duck formula is fed about 1x per week as part of our rotation. I find that my 25 pound, very high energy, spayed female maintains a healthy weight on about half of what the bag recommends. This, combined with our rotational feeding makes it last a very long time. Though the price can be sticker-shock inducing, the cost per meal for a dogs of similar size is often less expensive than kibble :) Additional benefits include very little poop! Since switching to raw freezedried, my dog went from a 2x per day pooper to 1x or even once every other day. One tip for success that I follow is that I actually rehydrate this food about 4-6 hours before I actually feed it (so at lunch time, I prepare the dinner meal) and stick it in the fridge. This gives it time to soften and bulk up. I also believe adding the moisture back to the food makes for easier/healthier digestion...just be sure to cover and refrigerate if you're going to be leaving it out for more than 15-20 minutes.

Pricey but Works Well
Things I love about the Vital Essentials mini nibs :* Size: we use these as treats and they are perfect for small or large dogs. For small dog, I’ll even break them in half as I give them out.*Ingredients: These contain nothing but ingredients that a good on a holistic diet. They are safe puppy through elderly stages. They add a boost by having organ meat and bone if feeding a commercial diet.*Ease Of Use: The mini nibs are dehydrated so they do not clump, mold, dry out, or deteriorate while in training pouchOnly con: Price. At over $30/lb this is extremely pricey. It is not organic/non gmo, and there are a lot of alternatives that are at lower price points. It is a good way to incorporate raw easily.Overall: As treats, this works well for us and is great for that purpose. I would not feed as food.

CAT approved
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE:Had an opportunity to try the new formula and it is a winner too. Our little guy loves his rabbit. Now they make a cat version and we will be trying him on that but as a snackie, our little cat does just fine on the cat version. We have bought this over and over.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Oh thank you! So ... I have a little hydrocephalus CAT that I switched to a carnivore diet. My little guy does well on raw, wet, and these kinds of freeze dried kibbles. He will eat chicken & duck, but his thing is RABBIT. He knows the difference between them all and he will be persistent with how much he wants the rabbit. This makes sense given that our outside cats love to eat little rabbits. We were purchasing Purpose brand rabbit for cats and it is currently $3.67/ounce. Then it went out of stock. THEN the polar vortex hit. I found this brand at $2.79/ounce ... a bargain in the current market. It arrived on the exact day he ran out of his other rabbit food. I put this food down and he LOVED it. Oh thank goodness and hip hip hooray! I have a happy cat! A happy cat that has lost two pounds on carnivore and doesn't have the urinary issues he was having on a grain filled. A more spendier food, but what you spend on food, you will save on vet bills. Same ingredients as other CAT dehydrated rabbit kibbles. So cat approved. No regrets, will totally repurchase.

Good product; lousy shipping
My dog likes this food. From the day I ordered it to the day it was delivered was 19 DAYS!! I'm a Prime member and that's a very long time to wait for a product to arrive. I would have cancelled the order except that I used a credit I had which decreased the cost significantly. I was afraid that if I cancelled the order I would lose that credit so I waited and waited and waited some more. I can't imagine why in the world it would take 19 days to receive this bag of dog food. Totally frustrating.

My Chihuahua Can't Get Enough!
My chi has food allergies, so I have to watch what he eats. He gets a "potty treat" everything he goes, and as picky as he us, he's loved these for years!

Should not be shipped in same cartoon as heavy items
Love the dog food. Delivery was great! This is a review on the packaging for shipping This is a high quality, freeze-dried, all meat dog food which my very fit, healthy dog loves. It's a little pricey, but well worth it. Unfortunately Amazon shipped it in the same box with other heavier items (a ream of copier paper, 16 Oz. coconut oil and 2 large jars (a combined 28oz) of dry supplement powders. During shipping these heavy items crushed much of the high priced dog food nibs into crumbs. In future I would like my freeze dried dog food treated like a fragile item.

Great product
I've been using Vital Essential freeze-dried treats to train my dogs for a long time. This is one of many flavors, all of which are good, though I like the green tripe the best. It's kind of expensive, but comes in 16oz bags so it lasts a while. Besides, the dogs love it so it makes training fun for all...can't beat that!

Not so mini but delicious
The nibs are sometimes too big to be used an efficient training treat but my dogs all love it!
