Kaori Ozaki is back :D
Warnings: Suicide attempt, bullying and physical violence, mention of pedophilia, nudity.Kaori Ozaki is one of those authors I love that sadly is underappreciated in the manga industry. I first came to knew her in the early 2000s in the days buying licence manga was a luxury for those who could afford it and us simple working class such as mine had to result to scans and translations. I read her first manga, Immortal Rain and became an instant fan from how refreshing it was. The different artwork, the interesting story I've never seen before and of course how it all work perfectly. Sadly it abruptly came to end and like all good things I had to say goodbye, never hearing from her again. I was heartbroken, I needed more from her, and here we are again!!!The Golden Sheep is a wonderful manga for old and new fans to Kaori Ozaki storytelling. A comedic yet deep tackle on this quartet of friends who became estranged from one another not by choice but due to life are now back in each other lives and they are all different then they were before. Each of them complex not the same kid they were before dealing with issues such as a runaway or dead father, depression, bullying, unfulfilled love declaration, dealing with other people's sins over their shoulder. It all comes perfectly and I love it and I am here to see where Kaori is taking us with the next volumes. I highly recommend you give it a try, especially if you looking for a new seinen or slice of life manga.

Fun and unexpected
I love the main character, Tsugu. The golden sheep definitely fits the coming of age manga genre. It starts when Tsugu returns to her hometown from Osaka. She expects her childhood friends to be exactly how she left them. Instead, she learns her old friends are practically strangers. There are a few unexpected twists, especially at the end, but you'll have to read it to learn more. 😉

Honest and real
~4 Stars(Contains light spoilers.)I didn't know what I was getting into when I started this volume. The volume starts in a very drastic place, and then goes backwards a bit. We meet Tsugu, who moved away from her hometown and best friends when she was younger, and is suddenly able to move back. There've been some family circumstance changes, and now that she's back, she wants everything to be the same. At first, it feels like it could be. But, slowly, the pieces of teen angst and change start showing through. There are some very serious themes explored in this volume. Bullying, in particular, is harsh and awful, and we even get to see two different sides of it. And suicide, though I won't go into detail on that one, but warning none the less.Tsugu is really the bright spot of this so far. She's optimistic, but also blunt and doesn't hide from things. When she discovers what's happening with Sora, she doesn't hide from it, and she doesn't shy from being there for him. This volume took a very dark turn for a while in this volume. It's realistically harsh, and I definitely think it's well done in that. It's realistic in how it portrays being a teenager, too, while also being thoughtful about it.I'm also glad to say that things seem to be looking up at the end of the volume, though. And knowing this is a short series, I'm hopeful that it won't go too dark and dreary in the end.

A good manga
I enjoyed this manga story. It was about four friends that get back together after one of them leaves and has returned. Now they are teenagers and have different things happening around them.I enjoyed the illustrations and also the story. It had a lot of different emotion happening through out it. This is the first book in a series of three books. The friends name are Tsugu, Sora, Yuushin and Asari.I received complimentary copy Vol. 2 and 3 via Netgalley . And decided to try reading Vol. 1 since it is a series. This is my honest unbiased opinion.

Heartwarming, heartbreaking, yet funny
This is a slice of life manga with the teen years as they may really be: nasty, full of bullies, low on hope. Yet it avoids being depressing because the thread of hope is always there, and the main character, Tsugu, is so delightful. A dash, only a dash, of mystery. Beautiful art, although with the usual manga challenge of who the heck is talking?

Sad but what a good start!
Just got done reading this title and instantly ran to see when the next volume is coming out. Extremely sad and heart wrenching in some parts but overall I felt really satisfied with where it's going. Seems like a manga I want to get invested in and the characters were more developed than I thought they would be. Wouldn't be surprised to see an anime out. I recommend it!

Beautifully crafted manga.
This is a gorgeous story about the test of friendship through hard and lonely times. It makes you think how much you would take from a friend you trusted and how could you try and bring them back to who you know they truly are. I love the series and only wish for more!

The golden sheep 1
