Fujifilm X-T200 Mirrorless Digital Camera, Silver with Fujinon XC15-45 mm Optical Image Stabilisation Power Zoom Lens kit

I have had two of these X-T200 cameras and each one I have had to return. BUT please read the update below. The good points: Great adaptable screen - Wonderful image colour and performance - Light in weight and many lenses to offer choice in whatever you want to photo - Responsive menu touch screen. The bad feature: The camera locks up or freezes when you switch from Advance Filter mode. I analysed this over a few weeks and the conclusion I made was that the software takes a long time to process images in Advance Filter mode. The culprit one is the HDR Art feature, which is unfortunate because that is the filter I like the most and one of the reasons I bought this camera. When viewing an image with HDR ART filter the lock up or freeze will happen sporadically when switching back to Auto or another mode. I used several different SDHC or SDXC cards and it was not realated to any read/write aspect. The flaw is with the Filter. (I don't know why some people look down their noses at the use of in-camera filters as photographers are meant to be creative and the use of filters is being just that. Yes, you can spend ages in PhotoShop post imaging but usually all that does is create a picture that this camera can already do for you a lot easier.) The HDR ART filter is a wonderful feature and I managed to take some amazing pictures with it but seven times out of ten the X-T200 would lock up and I had to remove the battery and replace it to get the camera working again. I also had the same trouble with the Fuji A7 locking up in HDR ART mode and had to return that. So, clearly, Fuji need to do some work and provide a software update or fix for this particular filter. I also have an A5 and it may be worth noting that the A5 has a HDR ART filter which works perfectly. I think this is due to the fact that the camera asks you if you want to save the image before moving on and not automatically saving it like it does with normal images. I really hope Fuji do solve this problem because the X-T200 is a really wonderful camera and in many ways better than my X-T3 which is a lot bulkier and heavier. The performance in other areas too is top class and I would buy it again instantly once Fuji resolve the problem. Unfortunately, I don't think they will bother as the X-T3 and their other cameras don't have the HDR ART Filter probably because a) they think so called 'real' photographers won't use it, which is silly, or b) they don't know how to fix it. Applying a save option like on the A5 might help. If you are not interested in the Advance Filters then buy the X-T200 as its images are brilliant. UPDATE: I have received another one of these cameras and have monitored the situation with the HDR ART Filter and the problem seems less serious than originally thought. As long as you do not change the setting from the Creative Filter Mode to another Mode e.g. P, A, or Auto etc, too quickly, the freezing up doesn't seem to happen, The trick is to keep an eye on the orange activity light and give it time to settle. This is only a problem if you suddenly wanted to change to shooting Sport etc as if you are in no hurry the waiting time for the camera to finish creating the HDR ART shot only takes a few seconds. So, the warning is, don't switch Modes too quickly if you use the Creative Filters. Accordingly I have upgraded my rating to 5 Stars as for me the Art Filter alone is worth buying the camera.

It's early days yet but I am having a lot of fun with this camera. I'm an enthusiast not a pro so this is my main camera. I bought the X-T200 after doing a lot of research and being encouraged by the findings of various well-known camera reviewers on YouTube e.g. DPREVIEW and KAI W. I'm so happy to have this camera! Believe it or not I was all set to buy a DSLR before someone pointed out to me the merits of mirrorless cameras and how they were the future. I'm glad I didn't go down the DSLR route in the end as I'd have ended up buying kit that could well be obsolete soon. Here are my findings so far:- Positives. - Very lightweight and reasonably priced compared to higher end Fujis like X-T3/X-T30 - Feels very good and stable in my hands - The screen can rotate around so that you don't hit it with your nose when using the electronic viewfinder. - The electronic viewfinder is very sharp and clear and has a sensor to detect when you have your eye there. - I prefer the EVF to the touchscreen because I can use it without glasses. Note that I only need glasses to look at screens like those on smartphones/tablets/computers/cameras and my eyesight is OK otherwise. - The screen is handy for selfies though. - XC 15-45mm lens is really versatile and compact, giving a great wide field of view at the 15mm end. - Shoots well in low light if you crank up the ISO and even if you use fast shutter speed - Really stylish retro look. Points to note. - Mirrorless cameras eat battery so I've ordered a couple of spares plus an external charger since charging in the camera body is very slow. Avoid buying the Fujifilm spare battery - it's very expensive! 3rd party batteries can be just as good at a quarter of the price from the reviews I've seen by the experts. I recommend buying a charger bundled with a couple of batteries. There are quite a few decent options on Amazon. - I installed the Fujifilm camera remote app on my iPhone, which was handy as I could update the camera to the latest firmware via bluetooth without having to mess about with downloads on my computer and then transferring it via memory card etc - The app is OK for transferring your favourite images to your smartphone. It worked well for me. - I haven't experienced the problem that others report with the HDR art filter. Maybe I've been lucky but maybe it could also be because I've updated the firmware to v1.10. The camera I have was shipped with v1.0. Fujifilm are very good at making updates for their firmware available I understand. The latest firmware allows you to use the camera as a webcam - albeit a very expensive webcam :-) - The X-T200 controls are great but need to be played with a lot to get the hang of them. I'm getting there :-) - The main mirrorless rivals to this camera are the Canon M50 and Sony A6100 at time of writing so check out their reviews when doing your research. - There are mirrorless cameras out there that are cheaper than the X-T200 but usually they involve some kind of compromise such as not having a built in flash, a moveable screen, electronic viewfinder or the ability to shoot 4K video. If you're OK with these compromises though then there are cheaper alternatives to this camera. Similarly, if you want a simpler screen, in body stabilisation and a 26MP sensor then there are more expensive options like the XT-3 and X-T30 to consider.

I’ve only had this camera two days, so these are my initial impressions. Fuji was my first digital camera back in 2002 and I’ve always wanted to go back, because I think the image quality was the best. I’m mostly interested in photography, not so much video, so I haven’t tested that yet. I’ve had every make of camera since then, compacts and SLRs. So far, I’m very impressed with this camera. The colours are good and the touch screen is amazing. I’m very used to camera menus, but this took me the best part of a day to figure out with the help of the on line manual. I found it quite complicated to say the least, however, once I had the camera configured to suit myself, it was brilliant and very easy to use. Straight away I had to buy two more batteries and a battery charger (arrived next day thanks to Amazon) because only a usb cable is supplied and I think you’re meant to charge it in a computer. (?). The battery drained very quickly with all the playing around, but apparently this is normal for mirrorless cameras. The camera is small and light and the attached lens has a fast zoom ring and a manual focus ring which works when you activate AF/MF in the settings. So far, I’m very pleased and look forward to the rain stopping, so I can go out and test it some more. ..... Here’s a few of my first pictures, straight out of the camera. JPG. Update 2 days later. Like the previous reviewer , I’ve had screen freezes using the HDR art filter. Deciding whether to return it - not really Good enough in a camera costing this much. Update. August 2020 Amazon replaced the faulty camera and I’ve had the new one some time now and it really is brilliant! It’s worth exploring the menu and all the settings because there is so much you can do with this camera. It’s fun to use and takes amazing pictures. Enough said.

Such a good camera. So happy I did the research. Love that it’s lighter than a DSLR. Photo taken on auto with the lens the camera comes with.

worth the price

Great bit of tech, also have the 50-230mm telephoto lens and 35mm 1.4 to add full versatility. Only gripe would be battery life but with the amount of features you get for the price it isn’t a surprise.

I bought this camera for 4K casual video shooting after reading reviews from many sites like DP review.What they forget to mention is that it has a major issue with exposure shift while zooming or panning indifferent light conditions. Most of my footages were of no use. This did not happen with my other cameras like Panasonic GX80 ,Sony RX100 iv etc. To overcome this issue you may need a cine lens which is not cheep. New firmware did not solve this issue either. I came to know that this issue persists with all Fuji X range.

It is a great update handling and focusing wise over the X-T100 but my example kept displaying a temperature warning after 5 minutes of 4k video. Returned.
