Makes an amazing bread knife
Years and years and eons ago my parents bought this knife at an in-store demonstration somewhere. Probably 20 years later I decided it was time to buy more. It had stayed sharp all of that time, cutting everything from food to cardboard. After using a magnifier to find the inscription, this is it. This knife is amazing at cutting bread, and everything, is super sharp, is very affordable, and says to be American steel. This is the only knife I recommend as head and shoulders better than any other bread knife I have purchased.

BEST KNIFE FOR CUTTING FROZEN FOODS AND TOMATOES!
Been trying to find a replacement for years. Been using one of these guys for over 25 years, but there was a lot of sharpening over the years. Best knife on the market I have ever found for cutting frozen foods and TOMATOES! Keeping it out of the dishwasher will make the edge last much longer! LOOK AT MY OLD KNIFE!

Best slicing ever, one fault
The edge 2001, of which I have 3, is better for slicing than any knife I have ever owned. You can cut tomatoes, onions and blocks of cheese easily and as thin as paper if you wish. The blade itself seems almost indestructible as I have use an old one to cut stuff like wood and cans. The only caution I have for people is that the handle eventually loosens its grip on the blade if the knife is used frequently on hard-to-cut items like very hard cheese etc. Once it loosens, the fun is over as the blade can eventually work its way out of the handle. When this has happened, I have tried the best glues I can find to re-seat it, but it continues to loosen again. So I suggest not to wash the knife in a dishwasher and be careful not to cut items that require very hard downward pushing. But I still love the knife or I would not have purchased so many just so I know I have an extra one handy when one is dirty and a spare when the blade starts to slip a bit in the handle.

Just as good as Forever Sharp
I love my Forever Sharp knife. I have had 2 for over 15 years. Somehow, they went missing and after looking high and low for them, I gave up and went in search of them on Amazon. Well I found them, but the asking price was over $50 for one knife! Uh…no. So after looking around a bit, I found this knife. It looks almost exactly like the Forever Sharp one and the price was right. I took a leap of faith and ordered it. Well folks, I am a happy camper! I use this thing for almost everything. Cutting meat, bread, fish and even some vegetables. It is super sharp and requires very little effort. The best part? It’s a tie actually. I can’t decide if I like the fact that it can be put in the dishwasher or that it does NOT need to be sharpened. I hate hand washing anything, and sharpening knives is time consuming. I was really glad that I tried this knife and will probably purchase this for gifting in the future.

Not as sharp as hoped, wide handle prevents slicing all the way down
I was trying to replace a Forever Sharp knife I had from 2004. It looked the same and came in the same kind of box. Upon using it the first time, I hated it. The Forever Sharp was actually sharp enough to cut potatoes. The handle is wider than the blade; I guess for safety to keep your pointer finger from getting squished. Therefore, I could not slice down into the potatoes all the way. My husband says it is fine so I gave it 3 stars. It is a 1 for me compared to my Forever Sharp. It likely will cut a French loaf fine with the style of teeth. I should have returned it. Cutting potatoes or squash with this knife takes more time and strength than it should. I default to a steak knife rather than use it. It is not as sharp as I had hoped and the large handle prevents the knife from going all the way to the cutting board.
