I was always going to like this book but I didn’t realise how much I would ADORE it! Oh my gosh it is so so beautiful! I’m 41 at the time of writing and have always been a fan of the books and films but these books (there are currently 3 in print and I WILL buy the full set) are next level special. The beautifully embossed cover, the fun interactive elements which are protected with tissue paper and of course, the incredibly detailed illustrations all combine to make these truly stunning and unique. I’m savouring the first book as I don’t want to finish it, even though I have the next 2 lol. With the level of detail involved in creating these works or art means they can’t just be churned out, so I’m happy to read each book over a long period. I will be returning to these again and again and these would be the perfect gift for any HP fan from a mature child/tween upwards. Don’t let the price put you off, they are completely worth it! This is just stunningly beautiful, my favourite edition of the Harry Potter books to date! Don't get me wrong, I love the Jim Kay versions, I buy each one and think they're incredible, but let's be real, the size is not practical to read unless you're resting them on your lap and sharing the pages with a child, reading together etc. This is a far more private book, being only a shade larger than a regular version, but wow, it's just gorgeous. I didn't include too many photos of the interactive elements, as they're fun for you to discover for yourself, but even the regular illustrations bring such joy with each page. I believe that even with the Jim Kay versions, these offer something different. Jim Kays artwork is much more classic fantasy illustration, much more fun in a sense and it helps to bring the book to life in a whimsical way, whereas MinaLima is far more graphical and stylised. It's basically an illustrated book for adults, though I am sure a child would like it too and there's nothing too dark or scary in here that might frighten them. I was absolutely gutted when this was out of stock and I'm so happy it's been reprinted and become available again. I've pre-ordered Chamber of Secrets already, because these are just brilliant and I can't pass them up. Five stars all day long and I'd give it more if I could. Obviously as a Harry Potter fan this is a bit of a gushing review, but trust me, as a book lover in general, this is just a wonderful example of why books will always beat ebooks all day long and it's worth every penny!

I have been a Harry Potter fan since I was a kid, I grew up as the movies came out, naturally I am obsessed. I wanted to buy something special for my soon to be born baby niece or nephew and I thought what better way to start their collection than with these incredibly illustrated novels. You can tell that the binding is fragile, this is not surprising given the thickness and weight of the book. These will look wonderful on a shelf, I am so looking forward to the rest of the series being created.

Beautiful edition to add to my collection. Lovely little surprises as you read and lovely pictures and pop ups throughout. Not for the younger age as the extras are a little fiddly

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good... By now we all probably know the stories, and most of us have the books in one form or another. Did I need another copy? Not really. I've already got my original copies and I've got the large illustrated books done by the illustrater Jim Kay. Just hope they pull their finger out and crack on with the rest. Four down but I'm still waiting for the final three! I also have the talking books and a complete cd audio books sets read by the incredible Stephen Fry. I've even got all the films on DVD & Bluray. So why did I need to get this? Because I did! It's a stunningly illustrated book with a more grown up almost Art Deco style of pictures. On a personal note I may not agree with the author on other things but I refuse to go all 'Voldemort' and cut my nose off to spite my face and stop loving these stories. They belong to us now and she can't have them back! Mischief managed, nox!
