high dose prescription strength iron
These are a high quality prescription strength iron supplement - use only under the supervision of your doctor. My serum ferritin was 11 out of a range of 15-150 and that indicates a long term systemic iron deficiency even with normal serum iron. I have not been taking long enough to recheck, but I did a lot of research on what supplement to take and decided I needed this high dose supplement. I have hypothyroidism/ Hashimoto's autoimmune thyroiditis, and chronic low iron can be an underlying cause or a result of the disease as it causes maldigestion and malabsorption, and many symptoms will not go away until ferritin is more normalized (like 90 or above). Also the thyroid gland can't function correctly until the serum ferritin is normalized to a much higher level. Most reviews I read suggested this supplement, and so I have chosen to trust this product. I have had no stomach or gi upset either. Will continue to order and take this brand as long as needed - highly recommended!Update: I got my bloodwork rechecked after three months on this supplement and my ferritin level was up to 41 (range 15-150) which is not as high as it needs to be but a lot better than before. Increasing serum ferritin and maintaining can be a long process, so I intend to keep taking this supplement daily for the forseeable future as long as my numbers keep improving. Still no problems with GI upset or other side effects.

Exact Same as Prescribed by Dr . With insurance they were more $$ less Capsules.
Dr wrote a prescription for these. Wife said "let me doing some comparison." She did. She knew how much they would cost with our 2 insurances. Found them here on Amazon cheaper than what we could get with insurance. What we would get with insurance was 60 capsules. We got 200 here on Amazon which was $4 cheaper than those with the prescription for 60 capsules. Once they arrived she compared to the ones prescribed. Exact SAME THING, ingredients if you will and looks of the capsules. Will be buying again as needed.

Finally, iron I can afford that I actually benefit from taking!
I had weight loss surgery 12+ years ago and have struggled with anemia ever since. All along I was given ferrous sulfate and I continued to be anemic. Finally I was referred to a hematologist for iron transfusions- when I started he asked what kind of iron I took and then told me that without the acid-producing cells in a normal stomach, I would never benefit from FeSO4 and to take this product. I'm thrilled to say that my infusions were over a year ago and my iron levels are again normal with my ongoing use of this product. This stuff has been a lifesaver!

Effective for raising my iron level
I was severely anemic. Any lower I would have required a transfusion. After one month on polysaccharide my blood was in the lower range of normal. At six months it is slowly increasing to near normal. The only downside is that I need to watch my diet to insure I get enough fiber to prevent constipation.

Worst constipation ever!
Caused horrible constipation despite taking with vitamin C and magnesium, literally no BM until I stopped taking it. Going back to Poly Iron.

It's so gentle!
Very happy with this item! Constipation and the trifecta of vitamin C, stool softener and abdominal cramps is long gone! This product is so much fend lier than 65 mg elemental or 325 mg of iron!

Be careful.
First of all, one of these pills is over 3 times the RDA for iron, so you really shouldn't be taking this unless your doctor has explicitly said this is the right dosage. If you're also taking a multivitamin with iron, that means you're getting even more, in addition to whatever you may get from actual food. Iron overdose is no bueno.Second, this may not be an issue for everyone, but this product contains sodium lauryl sulfate. If you don't know what that is, then it probably won't be a problem for you. It's definitely a problem for me.Other than that, it is what it says it is, as far as I can tell. Can't say if it works, because I can't take it. Just be careful, and make sure you know this is definitely the right supplement for you before taking it.
