I've looked at a few of the options on offer for these and for a few quid more i'd say this one is well worth it. Black with white lettering makes this easier to read for my tired eyes than the shiny/matt metal options. Solid chunk of metal with super clearly printed lettering on it which is very easy to read. It's not in any way flimsy and for something i'd ideally like to last for years, and this ticks all the boxes.I've no opinion on the silver ones with black or white lettering but for me, a black background with clear white lettering just makes sense to me. I'd go as far as to say that if I lost this one, i'd buy another straight away. Already set up my Strat Performer and it was super simple. Spend the extra as in my view it's worth it hands down

Handy tool to keep in the guitar tool box. Another tool that while not necessary it makes life easier when checking string heights.It’s a little expensive, maybe, but it’s well made and easy to read. It would benefit from a storage sleeve to protect it when not in use.A nice little gift for a guitar player.

Great product makes things easy for setups

Easy to read due to black/white contrast, compact and quite rigid for thin metal. Seems very accurate and the rounded edges make it easy & safe to slide along the frets.This is a high quality string action gauge - definitely worth paying a (little) bit morefor this gauge over some of the other dodgy ones on Amazon. Highly recommended.

Accurate markings and easy to read

The thing is with these guages, there's probably more markings on this tool than most guitarists need. ... I've used the cheaper Stew Mac silver one for donkey's years which has done the job and the only reason I got this, (an Xmas present by my daughter) was in thinking the black background with the white markings would be easier to read. In practice though, it's a yes and no, where arguably, (say with the action height increments) the Stew Mac one has thinner black lines over the silver background and when you are viewing a high E or B string, the Stew Mac more 'user friendly' (IMO) to see if you are 'spot on' because the line is covered. So, unless your doing a load of set ups, etc., and needing the extra markings, I feel the extra cost for this item is unjustified.

Nicely finished and very accurate, easy to use, great little tool for the price

It's ok and it fits for purpose, but looking at this in detail is actually not worth the money. It's actually a piece of metal and printed scale over it. This tool is a bit overpriced and I think there could be better and cheaper options out there.

Accurate markings that are easy to read. Makes setting up your guitar simple and fast. A must have tool that should be in your kit right along side your tuner.

The one I received was very accurate. It matched the Stewart Mac gauge I already own but also provided another line of measurements to interpret the string Action height. If I was willing to do the math I could do the alternate calculations from the Stewart Mac, but this does it for me and is well worth it. It’s also much easier to read The string height lines against the black background for some reason so another bonus.

Black with the ivory/white text is the key for this. I have one that is steel colored with black lines and numbers and the contrast is not good. Might work for younger eyes, but not mine. This one, however, is exactly what I needed. Was able to improve the setup on my strat and not strain to read the measurements.

Nice tool to have on hand for guitar setups for measuring string heights at frets and nut locations. Quality manufacturing and nice contrast between printed info on dark background on the tool itself. I've used this on a couple of instruments in the last couple of weeks, since I've taken delivery and would recommend this for your tool kit, if you don't already have something similar.
