What is the difference between plush and faux leather?

The difference is in the texture and the touch and feel of the harness. The plush feels like a thick fabric and it is soft while the faux leather feels like leather.

Does this go over the dog's/cat's head? I'm looking for one that doesn't go over the head as my friend's dog I walk has suddenly hates it.

This vest does not go over the head, it goes around the dogs body with front paws in the openings. Very easy to put on and off.
