Used it for retracting attic lift remote. Not what it was designed for but I enjoy McGyvering

i have about 9ft of tesla wall connector cable draped across the garage and it did not have enough tension to reliably retract it up to the ceiling on other end. even tried max tension but all that did was shorten the cable. bought a heavier duty 6.6lb max balancer and that works great and its all metal build. this unit is all plastic including the loop. it should work good for lighter items.

I purchased this to suspend a wall-mounted Shop-Vac's extended hose such that I could pull it down and use it when needed, then have it retract back to the ceiling out of the way. It was far beefier than I imagined, and the tension adjustment is repeatable and easy to dial in. While setting it up, I increased and decreased the tension several times and it returned to normal tension as expected each time. The line appears to be sturdy metal, so should last a long time. Note that I am not commenting on longevity, this being Day 1!Bottom line: I am happy with the product quality and value.

Very strong - just a little too big for our needs.

I am using to keep the EV charging cable up and out of the way when not in use. It’s been in use daily for several months without issue.

When pulled all the way, the tension resets to the lowest level. Happened every time. Poor quality. Had to return for a refund.

The Tigon Tool Retractor worked well for holding the charging plug for our electric car out of the way when not in use. The retractor allows us to run the cord to the middle of the garage and hold the plug up near the ceiling when not being used. Unit looks well made and should hold up for what we are using it for.

This is not a balancer in the sense that it should have the same amount of tension regardless of how far the cable is extended. In reality, the farther you extend the cable, the more tension it adds.I was hoping to use this to hang an EV charger. It doesn't work for that because when it's fully extended to plug in the car, there's too much tension, pulling the charger up. If I loosen the tension enough to not put pressure on the plug, it won't retract all the way when not in use.I'm sure it would work for other applications where balancing isn't needed.
