First, let me say that I may be a tad biased as I have read every single Milly Johnson book and have come a truly devoted fan. For those who have been fortunate to ever open up one of her gems, they are hooked for life. Milly Johnson is a UK author, and like many of her other fellow UK authors, her books are always a breath of fresh air. There is always a strong element of friendship mixed with romance and filled with a variety of kooky, fun loving characters."Wildflower Cottage" did not disappoint. Once again Milly Johnson was able to completely draw me into the world and the lives of the characters. I will admit that the animal element to the story at first threw me a bit. Lately I've been reading intense historical fiction novels and so this was a bit of a departure from what I've been currently reading and as such it took me a bit to fully be immersed. However, once I was able to really concentrate on the story unfolding, I was able to thoroughly lose myself inside the Animal Sanctuary at "Wildflower Cottage".A little synopsis: "Wildflower Cottage" is an animal sanctuary in a village (or town) called Ironmist. We first are introduced to our heroine of the story, Viv Blackbird. Viv is going to Wildflower Cottage taking a lowly paying job to do admin work for the animal sanctuary, only thing is she's deathly afraid of all animals. Luckily Viv is to do all the office work while Geraldine is in charge of assisting with the animals. Geraldine and Viv quickly form a friendship. Things at "Wildflower Cottage" seem to be going well until Geraldine warns Viv to prepare herself to meet Heath, owner of "Wildflower Cottage". Heath lives up to his reputation as soon as Viv meets him she realizes that he's just as moody as her friend has warned her. When Viv discovers that due to a 150 lease agreement that is soon set to expire, "Wildflower Cottage" and all of the animals it houses are soon set to be demolished. It seems that "Wildflower Cottage" has a bit of a romantic history behind it. But Viv didn't just come for a job, unbeknownst to anyone she's on a personal mission. She finds herself falling more and more in love with the people and the animals at "Wildflower Cottage" and sets about to try to figure out a way to save "Wildflower Cottage".There are a whole other cast of characters and sideline stories that add to the dimensions of "Wildflower Cottage" and Milly Johnson expertly weaves the strands that bind them together in a seamlessly way. There is just enough drama to keep you awake until the last page has been turned. I love when a story sweeps me up and I can't put a book down until I've discovered what comes next.

Loved It!
I loved the whole story - the plot that unfolded took unexpected twists and turns. I thought the woman were courageous and the hero would be any girl' dream. My only complaint is that once I got stuck in I couldn't stop reading. Millie Johnson is a very gifted writer.

An enjoyable and satisfying story
This is my least favorite book by Milly Johnson but I still love it. It's a bit darker than her others in some ways but still satisfying, romantic, heartwarming, and a great ending.

Not worth the money--any money
Just ok. Her other novels are so much better. Mediocre. Weak women... Too weak!

🔸 Wildflower Cottage is a sanctuary to birds and animals owned by Heath Merlo in beautiful hamlet Ironmist. The sanctuary is in trouble as their lease is going to end soon. There is no way out on renewing the lease due to generations of enmity between Merlos and Leightons, who own the land. Vivienne Blackbird ventures to Wildflower cottage to work as an accountant and is not aware of this situation. Geraldine, the caretaker of the sanctuary welcomes her and within a short span of time, Viv and Gerry start sharing a special bond. Heath doubts Viv on her intentions as to why she has agreed to work for pittance with double the amount of work and what is she hiding. But no one knows, except Viv, what her hidden agenda is.On a parallel note, there is another interesting story that features Stel, Viv’s mom, and her steadfast pals who call themselves Old Spice girls and support each other always through thick and thin.💖 People following my feeds already know I am a Milly Johnson fan. Her writings directly strike a chord with you and you start rooting for the characters and emotions once you are halfway through the book. This book covers so many relationships like b/w Heath & Viv, Viv & Stel, Viv & Gerry, Stel and her friends - Linda, Caro, Gaynor and Iris. And with all this, put in lots of affection and bonding for animals & birds, some mystery, last minute twists & turns and loads of humour and result is - you get the book Sunshine over Wildflower Cottage.I enjoyed reading this and would recommend you to give it a try if you are searching for a romcom.
