American Standard 1660103.295 Ceiling Mount Rain Shower Head Shower Arm 3 inch, Brushed Nickel

Used this as a nipple for a toilet supply line. Tried with plumbers tape, no luck. There was always a leak. Then tried with pipe dope, still had a leak. The temporary galvanized nipple works just fine. I don't get it. Another review says the threads are not proper. This would explain why the nipple didn't go it far.It comes with a note to call support if there's issues, rather than return the product. I called American Standard twice. The first time I called, there was a recorded message saying they were closed, but listed open hours, and I was calling during open hours. Fun! I called again the next day, waited on hold for almost an hour, and gave up. I just returned the product. Mangled, of course, as removing a chrome fitting is nearly impossible. Even with a strap wrench.

I purchased this shower arm and two bent versions all from American Standard and this model could only be tightened about 1.5 turns into my drop ear, leading to leaks when pressurized. To check my sanity and confirm it wasn't simply cross-threading I swapped in the bent shower arms and had no issue. Figuring it had to be a one-off issue with the straight shower arm I ordered another and experienced the exact same issue. The taper on this model appears to be off, causing it to bind up before it has threaded deep enough for a seal even with thread tape and sealant.

Used it for my basement shower and it fit great I will update with pictures especially when my shower head which is LEd lights is running however this is exactly what I needed for the shower head it is 3in which is great as I didn’t want the shower head which is rainfall at 7ft to be too low when my husband is showering. Well made and well packaged

Ordered two of these and the second one came in an American Standard box with "defective-leaks" written in Sharpie on it. The arm had been used before, had dope and tape on both ends and the finish was severely damaged by a pipe wrench. The first one arrived in fine condition.

We did a bathroom reno and needed a longer rain shower connection. This rain shower connecter was exactly as described, affordable and arrived on time.

I was impressed with the packaging and quality of this shower arm. The chrome plating is extra thick, so you will need more than usual amount of Teflon tape since the threads are over plated.

This round shower arm with chrome escutcheon is very attractive and well made. We are happy with the appearance. We did end up replacing the escutcheon because we wanted a square one to match the square rainfall shower-head we are placing on the ceiling and the two hand held square sprayers. But will probably use the escutcheon on a different shower because it is really nice and thick. Looks really nice and modern.

Does the job and looks great. Suggest 'wetting' the faceplate so that the o-ring slides properly and remains in place.
