Q: can you buy replacement blades

I’ve had this for at least a year and have yet to replace the blade. Beware; the blade is extremely sharp.

Q: What is the max size roll it will hold? I have a 3" core roll but the roll itself is around 6"

My tape width (including core) is 2". This is the correct size for this dispenser.

Q: Can I use basic scotch tape refills with this dispenser

I have this dispenser but at the other library, not in front of me. So: I can't say for sure but NO, the basic tape is a smaller "wheel dimension". I think you just want a typical desktop dispenser for regular scotch tape.

Q: Would a 6" outer diameter tape roll fit in this?

The center of the core shaft to the bottom measures about 2 7/8" on mine, which would give you a maximum OD of 5 3/4. The slot in which the shaft rides is, however, cut in such a way that you MAY be able to run a larger diameter roll without too much inconvenience. The bottom of the roll would sit on the bottom of the dispenser, causing the core shaft to be raised in the slot; but, with the way the slot is cut, pulling on the tape would direct the shaft downward and keep it from popping out. I think.
