C.A.S. Paints AlkydPro Fast-Drying Oil Color Paint Tube, 70ml, Iron Oxide Black

CAS produces the finest alkyd paints around. This review is for Titanium Buff Gray, which is an indispensable color in my palette for underpainting (grisaille). CAS has pure pigment and binder, not a lot of filler. This is not just my claim, but the findings of a peer reviewed scientific study by conservators. With some pigments there can be some separation between binder and pigment as a result of not having all the fillers and stabilizers that other companies use. This is the price of pure pigment. This gray mixes up nicely. I use it to make gray values with white and black, as it gives me a neutral starting point. (This is super important with airbrush or very highly liquid paints, where titanium white and black pigment can separate very quickly).

This is by far the best white alkyd oil paint I have ever used - and I have tried plenty of them. Recently, my work included much more portrait painting and I really needed a faster drying oil paint that could lighten without turning my flesh tones chalky. I also wanted that beautiful buttery premium oil paint consistency. This paint really delivered. My only regret is not finding it faster than I did.

This came very quickly, I haven't used it a lot, but I like the color. I don't know why it is considered fast drying, it doesn't seem any quicker than other oils. The color is pretty.

The first tube I got from them was not good... but I've gotta praise how diligent the company was at getting me a tube that was up-to-par.It's a nice paint (I got Zinc White), really good for portraiture -- good translucence, yet with good coverage too.It's a different in terms of feel and consistency from the oils/alkyds I've used in my career, but I think once I get used-to- it, it'll be a good, go-to paint for a good, translucent white.

Fast Drying and it doesn't yellow...exactly what I was looking for.
