These Lamaze toys are Awesome!
This was actually the third Lamaze company toy we purchased for my daughter, starting with Jacques the Peacock when she was about a month old. She adores them! At a month she could really only look at them but if you shook them like they were flapping their wings or flipped them back to front (b&w side to color side & vice versa) she would smile really big at them. She also liked when you would put her hand on the squeaker and help her make the toy squeak. Now at three and a half months old, she reaches out and bats at them, she now has the dexterity to grab Fifi's rings and pull on her, turning her this way and that. She's tried the teething toy in the pocket but she's not done more than that with the teether, so I can't say how well that works. But she likes looking at the toys, she likes that they rattle or jingle (in Fifi's case) and she's likes when you squeak them at her. The different patterns and color contrasts, makes them easier and more interesting for your baby to see. And each toy has so many different sensory things for baby to explore. Fifi jingles, has a squeaker, crinkle paper wings, and clacker rings attached to a stretchy cord. Plus they each have a ring to attach them to a play yard, a stroller, an activity mat, basically wherever your baby goes, the toy can go to and you won't have to worry too much about losing them. I will be purchasing more of these toys for my baby and probably as baby gifts in the future too! Can't say enough good things about these toys!

Best toy for your little one!
I don't typically write reviews i just leave start ratings. Let me start with the fact that i always pay full price and no one has asked me for this review, i just thought this one needed one and you and your little bundle of joy would really appreciate it. 1st things 1st. In a world where it seems quality is 2nd to volume of sells, this company, Tomy definitely puts quality first. There are features that you may not realize this toy has so I will try to break them down for you 1 by 1. 1. It is much larger than the pics show. It measures around 12 in x 13 in across. 2. It has a different array of textures across the body section 3. The legs are tied in knots to create a hard feeling against the soft body (even though they are fabric) giving your little one a new sensation. 4. One of the upper wings has a flap with what seems like eyeball holes for your child to look through and when you Lift the flap it is a plastic mirror that seems very durable. 5. There is another wing with a squeaky ball in it. 6. The colors are brilliant and will captivate your little one. 7. There is a pocket in one of the bottom wings that holds a tethered teething ring in it. 8. The back is all black and white contrast striped and polk a dots. 9. There is a large snap ring at the top to hang on car seat, swing etc... 10. The bottom has 2 rings for the little one to hold onto, teeth on our whatever. 11. There are 3 little flaps of fabric on the inside of the top right wing that are all just different textured flaps. Obviously they didn't have to add that but there fact that they did speaks volumes about the integrity and quality this company stands behind. Nothing in this toy is second rate. I can honestly say that this is the best toy we have so far for our little one! I feel like this company put a lot of research into early child development stimulation research and packed this toy full of those results. Way to go Tomy. I will always recommend you to any of our friends with children. Keep up the good work and thank you for the wonderful toy.

Fifi is a cutie
Fifi is adorable, and she was a big success with a very young recipient. Probably best for 3 months +. I do wonder why Amazon has priced the female firefly higher than the male (Freddy). The toys are almost identical, except the colors. Fifi is more pastel. This gender-based pricing reminds me of the dry cleaner , who charges more for "ladies" shirts vs men's .. even when they are identical in style, size, design, etc. The toy itself is great, the kids just seem transfixed by these wide eyed bugs and they grab onto the crinkle-wings and other "appendages". I've given four Freddy dolls and one Fifi as gifts.... I think they're a little smaller now than they used to be ( or maybe Fifi is smaller than Freddy?) but the children still love them. The smaller size may be less intimidating to very young kids. It keeps them fully engaged ... It's really amazing to watch how absorbed they become with their new little "friend." Great for the car, in restaurants, anywhere where you want to keep the little ones occupied, entertained, and quiet. I especially like how the toy continues to intrigue the child as he or she develops... Black and white shapes for newborns, colors, squeaky sounds, tactile responsive materials, a mirror, and even a teething ring. I've been told repeatedly that Freddy has become a favorite toy. As for Fifi, I saw with my own eyes that when she was first unwrapped, she seemed to be a big hit. A clingy 2 month old who never lets her mom take a break didn't even notice she was gone for ten minutes once Fifi joined the mix. That's some toy! It's well thought out, well made, and fun. Highly recommended.

Baby Girl Loves, LOVES this toy - but watch out for manufacturing flaws
My baby girl LOVED this toy. It was the favorite among all of the Lamaze toys. She has had it since she was about 3 months old and it was HUGE in comparison to her size. She is now 6 months old and it is still a pretty big toy when it is on her in her car seat, but she loves the crinkle sounds it's wings make, loves chewing on the antennae and the rings (mainly the white one). She has not gotten into the squeaky on the wing and not so much so with the ladybug bite plate, Just loves gnawing on the head, wings and white clip. Now, I do have a few complaints for this product. We have purchased TWO of them now. The first one, shortly after receiving it, I noticed it started to tear on the fabric strip that holds the white clip/ring to Freddie's head. I thought it may have been from Sofia's eagerness, but I now believe it was just flawed stitching. Hand washing is the only way to clean this toy, which is fine, however, once you hand wash it you will notice the white is not really as white anymore because of the, what I assume are flexible metal pieces or plastic pieces inside the wings - they leave "strips" of dingy coloring. This isn't a big deal, just something I feel is worth mentioning, because Freddie doesn't look as clean any more even after a bath. Now, our second purchase we had to make because we thought we lost Freddie - and that is a big deal! So, Freddie #2 arrives and as I am cutting the little plastic tag strip to remove him from the cardboard, once free, I notice a pretty significant sized hole where the plastic strip had been - which was close to the seam on Freddie's head. SOooo, here we are with Freddie # 2 and he is damaged from the get-go. I am debating stitching it up or whether I should send him back - such a hassle. Also, we paid about $ 3 more for Freddie #2 for some reason, although both were purchased on Amazon within months of each other. Bottom line, Freddie the Firefly has been an amazing toy for our daughter and I highly recommend him - since others have failed. Lamaze Captain Calamari has been laying around for as long as Freddie # 1 and is just now receiving a tiny bit of interest (nominal), Lamaze Tug & Play Knot - having some success after a few months of dangling in front of her, and Lamaze Flutterbug - well, she is getting a little bitty bit of interest in this one when nothing else is around. My only suggestion, is if you get Freddie, look him over carefully for manufacturing defects and return him if you find any, because your baby will probably love him and you are going to want him to last.

Great baby toy
My daughter has absolutely loved this toy, since she was a couple months old. She’s almost 1 now, and still plays with this every day. I keep it in the car for her to play with, and it keeps her entertained most of the car ride. Highly recommend!!

Love This Toy and My Nephew Enough to Change It
I love this toy but it isn't safe for a child who puts everything in it's mouth....mainly birth to 2 years old. When I received it I looked it over and found some things I knew I could fix. The first thing I did was remove the white ring from the top of the toy. It has an opening where a child can easily get their fingers or nose caught in it and it would pinch. I trimmed the piece of cloth, the tab, that was linked to the ring, right down to the head and it's fine. I then examined the wings and discovered 4 strips of stiff plastic with sharp edges that can poke through the material on the wings and would seriously hurt a child's gums. I clipped the stitching close to the body of the toy and made 4 slits in the fabric of the wings just large enough to remove the plastic strips. I then restitched the wings tightly to the body so that the slits won't show and the wings hold. I then stitched around the flap that goes over the mirror because the mirror isn't soft and wouldn't be comfortable if the child bit down on it. There's still a bit of it shining through, enough to peak the interest of the child. The outside coating of the mirror is soft and can easily be peeled off and I wouldn't want a child sucking on it or chewing it, especially a child who's teething. The eyes are cloth which is great and the red teething medallion tucked into the pocket is large enough so as not to pose a choking hazard to a child and is soft enough to make their gums feel better while they're teething. The hard ball in the head that houses the rattlers is protected enough to be safe for a child. The squeaker in the lower left hand wing is soft enough so if a child bites down on it it will be comfortable and where it squeaks they'll probably do it often. I left the rings at the base of the firefly intact since, although they're not as soft as the teething ring, they can't pose a problem to a child. Now that I've made these adjustments to this toy I feel comfortable giving it to my little nephew. The colors are phenomenal, the expression on the firefly is delightful and I really love this toy and my nephew, which is why I made these adjustments. It was worth the effort. I have also decided to add a piece of colorful cloth over the piece of metal that serves as a mirror.
