Awesome reel with or with out up graded bearings smooth casting smooth retrieve

Purchased a cheap knockoff centerpin/float reel a couple years ago and gave up on the concept.Decided to try again and this reel made a world of different. Better casts, less hang ups, less knots, and a better experience. Caught a nice little Brown Trout on the creek with it. If you’re new to centerpin/float reels, then this is the one to start with.

I love it but have admittedly not used it yet. I should probably have left it alone until after trials but could not resist 'upgrading it with nicer bearings' (a very easy swap). As a result it is now even smoother but has a touch more drag than as originally produced. That is probably a result of the new bearings being shielded, if it bothers me once out on the water I may remove the shields.

I have many Okuma products some of the ok some nah.... This is my first center pin reel and so far I like it.It It is smood and works well,for try out center pin fishing I was not ready to spend $800 just for reel. I wish it had some kind of stop button or brake,for simple reason when you tying lure or adding weight to line sometimes the reel start unwinding the line.....

So far so good. Have only had it out for a few hours. Landed 3 rainbow trout. Little tricky getting use to. But seems to work well so far. Light weight, built solid. Good price for quality equipment

Perfect for intro to centerpinning. Reasonably priced. I matched it with a 12 ft Lamiglas redline. Caught steelehead and king salmon on this set up.

Nice reel. Machining and anodizing is done well. I'll remove the bearing seals and run them dry, the eventually upgrade to ceramic.

So far it’s a good reel.

Want to buy the mooching reel, but was shipped the center pin reel instead, Amazon need to make the size choices more clear, right now it is very confusing. there are two sizes available, "one size" and "1002", as I know 1002 is the center pin reel, I picked the "one size". But received a" 1002" anyway.The Quality of the 1002 seems great, though I know nothing about river float fishing, and that reel is thus useless to me.

This is a great reel for fishing for Australian luderick in estuarine and river environments. Beautifully machined and smooth as silk. I suspect that other reviewers who have found fault with this product are trying to use much lighter float rigs than the average luderick rig, which peels line off the reel effortlessy in flowing current.
