I have been a Knit Picks customer for a long time. Hawthorne yarn makes a great pair of socks. Also makes lovely sweaters. It becomes softer after washing. It does not split easily and the color ways are lovely.

This yarn works up really nicely and wears well. Ive knit two pair with Knit Picks Hawthorne (colorways Arleta and Poppy Field Tonal) and I just love the look of them. The variegation isn’t too extreme, but for me patterns get lost a bit so just let them shine on vanilla socks.

I purchased a multitude of sock yarn and this is best by far. Mostly because it always looks the same. This is the only yarn I use these days because it never produces hair balls and looks like I just made them. The pair in the picture I made 3 months ago and they still look good. I've been buying this yarn and storing it away because it seems all yarn manufacturers discontinue their yarn. And I want to make sure I can continue to make socks. Unfortunately one skein only makes one pair of socks, but if you make a contracting heel or cuff, you'll have plenty for two pairs of socks. This is very soft and always looks good.

First, I gave it 4 stars because it's a lovely, soft yarn to work with but there are a few things that are a bit of a problem. I bought this color, Macadam, and the color Skyline thinking that they would contrast but as you can see in the picture they are practically the same. Macadam has some black in it but the green tones match Skyline. In the Amazon picture Skyline looks much lighter and Macadam looks much darker. When it arrived it smelled heavily of dye and after knitting 1/2 the skein of Skyline and the whole skein of Macadam (I bought 2 skeins) my bamboo knitting needles are stained green. I haven't wet blocked it yet so I can't confirm that it will run but I think it's pretty likely. Again, I didn't return it because it is very nice yarn I just thought the above is good info to know.

Made nice socks, nice colors, worked up nicely.

As this yarn was used to knit my first pair of socks, it had to undergo much frogging/unknitting. I found the yarn to hold up well to the additional handling and the finished product did not show any separating of the strands. The colors are gorgeous, and the elasticity is very good. I would recommend this product.

The Mt Tabor color is basically all the same shade of green while the picture has a light green and deeper forest. Basically unusable for my project and Joann's has been sold out of what I needed for a bit so I can't finish it. Pretty much burned 80$ between this and the wool I've used already. I get that it's hand dyed so it's not going to match perfect but it shouldn't be dark forest green and a slightly darker forest green when the picture clearly shows a brighter fern color

Yeah, screen color rarely works as you expect. Yarn was far more orange than desired. Great yarn, but I won't be using it for myself.
