Day and Section Hikes: John Muir Trail Paperback – April 27, 2007

Well written and arrived quickly. I have not tried the section hikes as described yet but have hiked sections of the JMT prior to buying this book. The sections I am familiar with seem well described with very useful and full of information such as mileage, access, and descriptive trail notes.

Planning a week long trip on the JMT with a group of hikers from the east coast. So far I have found the book very helpful in making decisions for planning our hike. I am a fan of purchasing Frommer's Guides when I plan big vacations... probably the best comparison for this book.

Im backpacking the john Muir Trail in September. I can't wait! This book has gotten me psyched up and has a LOT of great info about it. From food to cars, to spots to stop and go... EVERYTHING> ! I do like that it is as concise as it is too. I got it pretty cheap. Just a section at a time seems less overwhelming too! :) Happy Trails!

Helpful for those who will not be doing the JMT end-to-end in one swoop.There are some beautiful spots listed in the book which a hiker might otherwise miss.

Good read, can't wait to go! This makes planning my route so much easier.

This booklet is small and compact to make it easier to take along when hiking. It offers good suggestions for alternate routes, expectations of what might be found along the trails, and how to plan.

Transportation information to and from trailheads is excellent. Graphics and maps in Kindle version not useful. Sometimes lost when discussion moves to alternative trails. No sure which trail I am reading. Would use this for preliminary planning for doing the JMT in sections.

Thoroughly describes the sections but offers almost only that. Other books about JMT cover best preparations and provide related information.
