A freak in the sheath.
Recently bought 3 different brands of machetes from Ace Hardware and this one here. I have to say this is the best feeling in the hand, the best balance of weight. The blade is sharp and keeps its edge and delivers exactly where you strike. The weight is light but carries through the hit. Felled 3 maple saplings this afternoon with ease, this deserves a review.

Great hand tool.
Nice grip, good balance, sharp, sturdy. Great in the yard, or camping does the job . Well made, nice sheath, good quality.

Handy
At first I was skeptical. But after a whole summer of use, it’s done its job well. Not the sharpest out the package, so sharpen it…duh! The hooks purpose kind of lacked due to its shape dullness, but it worked exceptionally well for me when pulling out pricker bushes and vines.

Hooeyman hookem machete - so far so good.
The grip is comfortable, the sheath is decent nylon, the blade is thin and sharp with good balance and good weight at the top. The size seems perfect, not too small, not too large. I tested it on some 1.5" saplings in my yard that were surrounding a mature tree. It made short work of chopping through with just a few strokes on each. The hook part is functional for pull cutting vines. I like it and recommend it as quite good for the money. I am glad I bought it. Mind you I don't have any real experience with these things, being just an average joe. But I can see how useful this will be in the woods, since it is light and thin yet stout enough to clear brush and whatnot. The shape and design has common elements with the vaunted Woodsman's Pal, and I'd prefer to have bought that for any number of reasons - Made in USA vs China, obviously higher quality, original design, etc, but I can't justify the price differential. At least until I've used this Hooeyman product a lot, and can feel certain if it will work for me in the long term. So far it's a 5 star - taking into the account what you get for the money.

Great Purchase!
Love this machete! It has worked wonders getting the English Ivy out of our trees. It chops the vines, strips the leaves & we can use the hook to help pull the vines. Great product!

It’s Okay
I found this while searching for a Woodsman’s Pal, it is very similar in design and is a whole lot cheaper. I opted for this due to the price difference. It seems to be made okay and the sheath is adequate. The problem, on the one I received anyway, was that it wasn’t sharp at all. The main part of the blade had a slight edge but not enough to cut anything. The hook part of the blade had not been sharpened at all, the shape of the hook made it a little difficult to sharpen. I spent the better part of two hours trying to put an adequate edge on the hook edge. I eventually did get it sharpened but it was not a quick process. If you want a sharp out of the box tool this one is not going to be the one.

Impressive
Using for yard care primarily. It is an impressive blade and looks like it will last. Not sure that it is as sharp as I’d like it right out of the package and will have to see if I can’t make it sharper. It was not sharp enough to cut through a 1 inch green branch without work.

Perfect
I got this knife to cut a cactus that is growing over my fence. Cactus really stinks when pieces of it fall off. The machete works perfect. It's lite enough for me to use with ease (I'm a 70 year old female), but it's very sturdy. I cut off most of what was hanging over my fence today, right after I got the knife. Most of them came off with one swipe. The hook part works well in the right spots. I'm extremely happy with this purchase. It does exactly what I want it to do.

Great machete. Blade was sharp right out of the package. The grip is rubberized and nice and textured for better grip. Started clearing brush from the yard right away. Was able to get through up to 1” thick branches with little effort. The sheath is a nice touch. Great way to keep the machete clean.

Have been looking for a tool like this for a long time. Great tool to weed. Pricey but VERY GOOD tool. My neighbours borough it from me all the time.
