The one I got was not sharp
I was excited to receive this knife after all the good reviews. As soon as I opened it, I was a bit disappointed by the obvious lack of sharpness on both sides of the blade, especially dull at the tip. I feel like maybe I got a returned tool but tried it out anyway. It struggled to cut all but the smallest roots and plants. I found it easier to pull by hand rather than mangle them with this tool. I could run my fingers over both edges of this thing and even put some pressure on it without fear of being cut. I have butter knives that have a sharper edge than this tool...it was about as useful as a regular hand trowel. That being said, it seemed well constructed and I liked the full tang and quality of the wood and finger guard so I gave it 3 stars. The blade unfortunately was useless. Returning.

What a fun knife!
Fantastic soil knife! I used is to dig a Dakota fire pit on a recent camping trip and it performed flawlessly. It is well-built, attractive and the leather sheath is a beautiful touch. The serrations do scar the interior of the sheath but that doesn’t bother me. The full tang looks great and adds tons of strength to an already sturdy knife. I was able to pry out several large rocks and cut through minor roots with very little effort. The finger guard is a practical safety and did protect me at least once. The handle is square-ish but comfortable for medium sized hands. The variety of grips I used while digging wouldn’t lend itself to a contoured grip so the block construction makes sense. I used the knife several times, totaling a lot more than an hour of hard digging and never developed blisters or hot spots on my hands. The thickness of the blade (appears about abt .200 or 5 mm) provides ample heft to get through some tough material but also allows for a decent edge geometry. I was able to hack off and saw through 1/2” (13mm) roots and small branches from standing dead with ease. I have not tried to sharpen the simple edge yet. It is a very competent general purpose knife for me around the campsite and as a soil knife it is fantastic. It is one of my least expensive but most appreciated tools.

Useful and convenient
I used this multi-propose tool in my backyard around two weeks for digging and planting. I found it’s very useful and convenient. Previously I had to use different tools, such as scissors to cut the bags of soils and fertilizers. Now I can use this little tool to do all these. Another useful feature is the ruler in the knife. I can precisely plant the veg.

So handy and sturdy!
This has been a godsend for my gardening this year. I use it daily for so many things...sharp enough to easily open soil and get through smaller roots, and I’ve used to saw slightly larger roots. It is so much easier to dig smaller holes with this than a trowel or shovel. The metal is very sturdy...I’ve abused it in various situations and it hasn’t ever tried to bend. The handle seems to be very well made also. I was worried about the wood breaking away, but so far it is as solid as the first day (I’ve used it almost daily for a few months now). The leather sheath is a really nice bonus...the metal is sharp enough that I wouldn’t want to keep it laying around without a thick cover. The sheath protects really well and is strong enough that the knife doesn’t cut it going in and out. This will be used for a long time!

Wenge handle
Very nice wooden handle. Good serration on the blade. I don't normally like not use serrated blades on regular knives but cutting dirt, seems to be where this type of blade makes the most sense. If I could change something about this hori-hori, I'd round and thin the handle a bit and try to bring the overall weight of the tool down a couple ounces. At the moment it weighs 6.7 oz which, along with the thick square handle, sometimes makes it feel a little unwieldy.I'd also make the belt loop on the sheath much longer to make the knife ride lower and not dig into my back.

Makes weeding great again.
This had been a bad year for weeds in our garden as we must have gotten some crabgrass seeds in the mulch we purchased and they were taking over. We knocked the crabgrass back to size with this too. It is well designed and makes weeding much more efficient. It would also be very useful for transplanting as well. While it is kind of expensive, the workmanship and quality of the tool are excellent. It almost makes weeding "great again".

Kind of Scary
This knife is heavy and larger then I expected. It can be used to dig, shovel, cut, etc so is the perfect garden tool. I am a bit scared of big knives and this one is sharp. I personally couldn't use it as my anxiety would go through the roof but my hubby loves it for planting things.

Versatile
These items are well made, great for digging around items that you do not want to damage. For instance, irrigation wiring in the ground, landscape lighting wire, roots of plants, etc. Comes with a sharpening stone if you need it and has markings to measure. Serrated edge can be used to cut unwanted roots and it is marked to allow you to measure depth. Nice handle with a hole if you need to hang it or attach a lanyard.
