Just because it's cheap, doesn't mean it's junk.
Asides from the actual necklace chain itself, this is great. I use it all the time, and it still works as good as new. It's made out of mt-20-14, which I haven't been able to fully verify the chemical composition. I assume it's mtech's unique alloy, which could be 0.2% carbon, 14% chromium, and possibly some other elements as well. Maybe I'm wrong, but 2% carbon is impossible to do given our current level of technology, if it was I doubt it would cost $7. Not that I'm complaining. Low carbon steel is good for durability for small knives. If it was a long sword blade, it would likely have a bit of flexibility, however this 1 1/2" blade isn't bending easily. Also the case holds this knife very securely. I've had a few fall out of the holster while around my neck, including a $20+ Kershaw necklace knife, which was rather disappointing. In fact, that's exactly why the necklace chain broke. If you're going to release this blade, use two hands, if you just yank at it while it's around your neck, your going to break the chain. As long as you keep that in mind, or get a much more durable chain, this will last you forever. With inflation, it might cost more than $7 now, still totally worth it. I cut through a plastic box stap, while near a metal support pillar at a factory I've worked at, put I little too much effort into it and struck the pillar, hardly a scratch on the blade, yet it actually sliced through the pillar! High carbon steel would shatter from something like that. The right tool for the right job. I collect tons of knives and swords, and this is the knife I actually use regularly.

Sharp.
It's a little larger than I had intended, but that's not a problem. After I put the stone to it, it is very sharp and holds a good edge. It's very sharp. Nice.

Probably not worth the money, it's the lowest quality Mtech knife I've ever bought
I now own several Mtech knives, and this was the latest knife that I've purchased and by far the least good. For the positives, it's small and lightweight, sheath is decent, knife fits in it snuggly and securely. For the downsides, it's very flimsy and the handle material is incredibly cheap. Feels like the material you'd find on the handle of a $2 hairbrush you'd buy at Wally world. That said, while the edge is dull, the top is very pointy and you could easily, very easily, stick this into a sentient meat sack if said meat sack was angrily and aggressively trying to flop into you for whatever reason a sack of meat would do such a thing.I want to say it's okay for the money, but Mtechs spring assisted folders start at only a dollar more and are significantly better built so I'm not sure this neck knife is worth the money.I don't wear it around my neck, I've strapped it securely to my belt with a strip of Velcro. I REALLY like the sheath design, I just wish the knife that went into it was better.

For me, it's important that it is secure in the sheath
I have a very similar style knife from a different manufacturer that I always carry, especially when walking my dog. I thought I had lost my original knife, so I did some looking around. I didn't want to pay a lot because I hoped I would find my original knife and keep this one as a backup.I like this one better. Granted it's not better in quality, but for the price, you can't beat it. It wasn't very sharp out of the box, but that was a quick fix.I'm impressed with how well it stays in the sheath, which was a concern for me. My more expensive one, which is a neck knife and has a belt clip as well, I would never wear around my neck. It would fall out almost immediately and I would lose a toe.I really like this knife and if I didn't already have 2, I would definitely purchase another. Really nice little knife!
