92 Year old Sailing Papa - loves this!
My Dad was a fine woodworker up to about 10 years ago; and it was very sad for him to give up his woodshop for health reasons. He is an amazing 92 years old! Additionally, in his youth he loved sailing and boating - he always talked about this when I was a kid. A couple months ago I sent him this puzzle/boat model and tears welled up in his eyes - he just loves it. The pieces are varying in size but go together well and the instructions are very good. Sometimes he needed a little help but these puzzles are really good for his mental acuity and eye-hand coordination. I started him on smaller versions of these wood puzzles and he really enjoys them. Nice to bring a little sunshine into my Old Dad's heart. :)

Great gift!
This gift is perfect for the person who has it all! One drawback was some of the connecting pieces are very difficult to connect. Other than that it’s very well made!

poor graphics on line placement
The structural assembly was normal, but the directions for line placement and connection to moving parts were beyond me. I have built a lot of kits , but this one drove me nuts. The structure was beautiful. However, for me the ties to the sails were very difficult, the suggested string lengths were too short, and the motion features incomprehensable. Once I ignored the sting guidance and followed the layout shown in the final pages, the result was impressive.

Good kit
Sails made of stock paper, worked OK. But should be made of plastic or thicker stock.Stringing of sails very confusing, pictures not helpful on this at all. But looked cool when done although mechanical functions did not work because of stringing issues.

Well crafted
It was a lot of fun to assemble. All pressure fit with no adhesive!

Will give you blisters, but is very rewarding
First time in my live I had blisters from building a model, you need good modelling tools and a lot of patience and strength with this one.Its a very hard build, really not for beginners and really not for kids as assembly requires to press some parts together tightly for a strong bond, but it is very rewarding as it is a beautiful yacht when finished and is really that big as in the picturesInstructions can be complicated in some places so experience building these kits is very beneficial

Trimaran
Now I have finished my model. This is the third model from Ugears in my hands - large sailing boat called Trimaran Merihobus. Made in skeleton style, looks very cool on the shelf in the office. As usual for Ugears, this model is also made of plywood, with laser cut out parts that are squeezed out by your fingers. For easier removal of parts, it is better to trim the jumpers. The instruction is quite clear, everything is assembled without any drop of glue. Included with the parts and assembly instructions sandpaper, toothpicks, rubber bands, a lot of nylon thread. Installing all the ropes takes a lot of time, but that’s all the general interest, isn't it? I recommend to carefully assemble each step, especially a twisting sail. Happy with a result!

Bits break off, fragility/design flaws
Bits broke off trying to put it together - some pieces have only 1-2mm of total structural-integrity and the smallest pressure required to fit, and even remove pieces from the plates (a wooden version of the sprues) cause some pieces to just break easily into pieces. Very annoying, especially having paid £42 for it and it looking otherwise specialist (so one would presume that such design weaknesses would have been corrected by this stage).I may update later to number-identify the problem design areas, it includes the mast (breaks trying to remove it, even as gently as possible, from the "sprues"), and some other pieces and problem areas.Having been very careful and patient, I am somewhat disappointed.

Not yet managed to rig model.
Due to a very persistant numbness in my fingers I am, almost unable to thread the rigging cord through the necessary holes. It is so frustrating I have to give up doing it and do something else. None of this has anything t do with the model which is excellent as always. I just would like to complete something I have started. Do you have a catalogue, I have never seen one but would very much like to have one for the 3D Models. Keith.

Excellent model.
An excellent well constructed model. Very pleased with the completed model. All parts are easily removable as there laser technology is very good. Some parts require a little sand papering down to fit however there is also the wax crayon to use.Sails are robust as is the twine used for the rigging. Will definitely be purchasing again from this company. Great fun and a great model.
