the crack of the glazed pecan world
Holy moly these are good, they are the crack of the glazed pecan world. I was looking for some way to enhance the pecans that I will use in a German Chocolate Cake recipe other than either roasting and glazing pecans myself, and ordered four different brands to see what I liked in a pre-glazed pecan. I taste tested Diamond Glazed Pecans (tasted like southern pralines, didn't like very much), "Honey Glazed Pecans Roasted with Farmer Leo's Secret Recipe" (sweet but otherwise kind of bland), and Trader Joe's Candied Pecans (more nutty than the rest, due to less sugar and a tiny bit of salt - not bad at all), but then these Emerald Glazed Pecans arrived a few days later and I took a bite - and I went into a feeding frenzy. I ate more than half the bag before I could bring myself to put it in the cabinet, and have decided I am definitely kicking my pecan pies up into some kind of mind blowing surprise when I use these. I ordered the 4 pack but I'm not sure if they will last until Thanksgiving and I may still have to order more. I am also looking forward to turning myself and everyone else that I serve my next German Chocolate Cake from haters into converts. They won't know what hit them!

Too Processed
Giving these a 3-star review is erring on the overly harsh side- 3.5 would probably be more sufficient. I have a salad I make- mixed greens, pan fried goat cheese, pomegranate seeds, and glazed nuts. It's a sweet and savory salad, and I decided to whip it up during quarantine (this was way back at the beginning of quarantine.) I had everything, but glazed nuts. I ordered these, although my first two choices would have been TJ's or making my own. TJ's was out of everything and I didn't have the ingredients to make my own... so Emerald brand it was. The problem I have with Emerald is they take what could really be a simple product and process the heck out of it. It's a shame. If you've ever made your own glazed nuts or have tried a less processed version of glazed nuts, you know what I'm talking about. This product doesn't taste like glazed nuts, more like processed candy. The oils they use in it take away from the more buttery, less sweeter taste that comes with processing less. I probably wouldn't use these again unless Emerald makes them less processed tasting.
