Cherry Stone Poultry Grit - Feed Additive for Chickens and Turkeys, Ready-to-Use, Natural (50 Pound Bag, #2)

This stuff works. I put in a new cement driveway and steps last year and could not use corrosive products to melt ice. I purchased a 40 lb bag of this stuff instead to keep the walk safe as the handrails were not installed before winter. It's a natural, benign product, that provides a nice grit to walk on. It doesn't melt ice, but it does provide a safe surface. It's dark colored and will help melt ice when the sun is out, but it's primary function is to provide grit. It's a natural product and it doesn't dissolve, so it's safe for the environment and goes a long, long way. You only need to apply a few times a year. I live a a cold climate and used less that 1/5 of the bag the entire winter. (six steps and a 20 foot walkway).

This stuff works great for my sidewalk and my driveway. I try not to use too much salt because it’s hard on the pavement and also on the plant life. This stuff really digs in and gives you a safer surface to walk on.

This stone product has very sharp edges. I purchased it to use on our ice covered areas instead of using salt. Much safer for the environment as well as my concrete. Simply spread our the ice cover area and it is no longer a slippery surface.

Works great on those icy areas!

This is a heavy bag, 50 pounds or so, which is why it costs what it does. The delivery guy had to work to get it to my front door. Clean stuff, tiny grit. Don't think I want to use it for ice traction, as the powder wouldtrack in. I use the larger #2 grit for icy sidewalks.This tiny grit also works well in my Zick recipe for bird suet blocks.

I searched and searched, though multiple states, to find a gravel supply company that would provide just the right size and color gravel for our Zen Garden. I love this stuff - keeps our stoop and sidewalk safe in icy conditions and we are not adding any more salt to our yard or river system.
