I would say it may be not suite for that. but It is very bright.

Q: Would you recommend this flashlight as a "bedside" light to be used only during power outages or "creepy" sounds!! Or is there something better?

This flashlight is super bright, I point it at the ceiling an it lights up the whole room, and the led lets the battery run for several hours, will easily run all night during a power outage.
