Best game ever!
Hey I'm a huge Harvest moon fan and I can tell you this is by far...THE BEST HARVEST MOON GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED! It is really easy to just jump into. If you ever get stuck or have a question on what to do (because it can get confusing) just look it up and you will get a lot of answers that all work. I personally never had any freezing issues or glitches with it which I was afraid of after reading some of the reviews. And I think we all know that the 3D can make any game dizzy. I agree this game is not for everyone so here are some things you will find in this game: 1. Easy to start your farm, and it doesn't matter what town you choose. 2. Tons of holidays and birthdays so you are never bored 3. Interesting stories and backgrounds for everyone you meet 4. An amazing minigame that makes it easier to bond with animals 5. So many things to make and earn as your farm expands 6. Pets that make it soooo much easier to herd animals in and out of the farm 7. I will admit it is kind of confusing at first to woo a spouse but it is so rewarding to finally wake up and see him/her standing with you when you're finally married (I married ash personally 😝) 8. Lots to do and the prices are never so extremely expensive you go broke. 9. Hidden characters to earn and find. 10. Possibly the easiest most entertaining game ever made! I hope you consider buying this game because you will not be disappointed! It a great game for beginning harvest moon players too!

Pleasantly surprised
I first started playing Harvest Moon in 2000 with HM:64, and I was instantly hooked. The gameplay across the series is simple but addicting, and over time I've played many of the games with each new installment being as fun as the last. Before I bought HM:ToTT, I read many reviews, and I was aware that the game had lagging issues and was known to freeze after playing the petting mini-game. With this in mind, I decided to go ahead and purchase the game, and if the freezing became an issue, I could easily shelf the game and know that I had learned my lesson. However, after playing through two complete seasons, I am happy to report that the freezing has become a non-issue and lag is minimal for normal play. The characters are very nicely designed, the world is beautiful (with or without 3D), and most of all the game is FUN! For anyone looking to expand the HM universe or simply jumping into the series for the first time, HM:ToTT is a great place to start!

Get the 3DS version and just don't run the 3D
Well I read plenty of reviews that said it had freezing issues which I thought was quite the problem, but I felt that the issues were caused by running the 3D element. It was quite a bit cheaper than the DS version and it had the petting mini-game, so I went ahead and got the 3DS version, thinking that, either way I don't get 3D so why not spend less money? I was right! I've had it since last october and have not ONCE got a freezing issue and I even run the 3D for short periods during various festivals and events. As for the game itself...if you like Harvest Moon, your going to like this. It's a great little game and lots of fun. I love the addition of being able to change your outfit, the bachelors and bachelorettes are all very interesting, the alpacas are super cute, and the ability to focus on either plants or animals more means you get to do more of what you like.

This is a really great version of Harvest Moon
Being a huge fan of the Harvest Moon series of games, I probably own and have played over a dozen different versions over many years since they were first released for the Playstation One. This is a really great version of Harvest Moon. Of course there are a whole lot of really EXCELLENT Harvest Moons now available for all sorts of different game machines and this sort of makes it hard for even me to keep up with all of them. I really am a little ashamed to admit this, but I have most likely played this series of games at least over a thousand hours over the years, maybe two thousand. Maybe more, haha

Game would be fun if i could play it
I've played a decent amount of harvest moons since the gbc, though my last real one was harvest moon DS or Rune Factory if you count that. My 3ds library is lacking so I thought I'd pick up this game, which was a terrible idea. First off, the 3D is tacked on and very unpolished, for example the roofs of the houses are "3D" while the houses are not and it just creates a weird effect. There's no real reason to get this game for the 3ds, wish i had done my research first. Secondly, I'm not a fan of the gameplay in this game, I don't like having to choose between crops and animals, I want to be able to do everything like you could in the old harvest moon games. Exploring the mountains and catching bugs is fun but gets very repetitive. I play harvest moon to farm, not to bug catch (that's what animal crossing is for, heh). The thing I like about harvest moon games is trying to squeeze everything into your day and fighting against your energy meter and time to get everything done that you wanted. This game is a much more relaxed pace and i have never had my energy bar get low except for the time i turned about 50 logs into lumber. Some people might like this but it's not what I was looking for. Thirdly and most of all is THE AWFUL FREEZING. My game freezes while going through the mountains about 1/4 times I pass through. I read online that supposedly the firmware update bundled with the new mario game might fix this, but I've loaded it and it did not make a difference. Having to deal with the constant freezing makes me so frustrated I'm going to trade this in to see how much of my $40 I can recoup. It's taken me much longer than it should have to get out of spring because I've had to replay days at least ten times so far just in that first season, now I've just gotten into summer (summer 3) and already have had it freeze on me. I work in video games and this kind of bug getting through their QA department is absolutely ridiculous. so don't buy this, just get the DS version if you actually like the sound of the gameplay and save yourself money and heartache.

I bought this game after having not played any Harvest Moon titles since Back to Nature for the Playstation. This was a bad place to jump back in. This game is barely playable. The framerate regularly drops, the 3D effects are 'tacked on', and worst of all, there is a known bug that makes the game likely to freeze after playing for two in-game days. The only workaround is to save and reload regularly, which can be extremely frustrating. From what I read, the regular DS version does not suffer from these problems, but at least now, Harvest Moon: A New Beginning is available, which is a much more enjoyable experience.
