Best book for beginners
This is a great book. I just recently go into photography and I didn't know anything. I just wanted a new hobby to learn about. This book has it all. I recommend it to anyone who is trying out photography for the first time. This book explains all you need to know for getting started in base english and the photos and examples also help a lot. Its full of lots of info that can help take great pictures right from the start and at least make you sound like you know what your doing to others into photography as well.

Great, could use glossary
I self taught myself and eventually graduated to a DSLR, so I'm not full of knowledge. This book was full of explanations and has almost everything I needed. It could use a glossary though.

Great book
I am a novice about DSLR photography. I have found this book to be very good. This type of photography is very technical, so I find that I need to go through some of the pages very slowly and read carefully, and sometimes re-read. However, I believe the complexity is due to the issues being described, not the book itself, which does a great job of breaking down the issues, showing examples, and explaining complex items.

Good Information
I am a novice photographer. I recently purchased a new Nikon 5200 and want to learn how to shoot in something other than auto mode. This book touches on a little bit of everything and is very easy to understand. I would definitely recommend it to my friends and family.

Digital SLR for Dummies
A fairly good book. Varies from 30% of the book on very simple details about obvious things for most photographers to 35% of the book on highly technical explanations of how to use a lot of automated features I don't like and will never use because I prefer ability to shoot with manual adjusments. I had to filter through it all to find the remaining 35% worthwhile tips in the middle which were helpful.

A must-have for beginners!
This book explains everything you need to know to get started with DSLR photography, but it also explains more advanced techniques. It explains the workings of different models of cameras, the types of lenses you can use, the principles of lighting, exposure, composition, and framing. The book also includes a great overview of photo editing software, especialy Photoshop Elements 11. Great book for beginners.

I would recommend!
A book very educational and honest. Being 7 books in one is a little tricky to review something that is behind us, but that does not compromise text quality. If it was only one book with all its chapters I would give 5 stars. I advise you to go marking the pages you find interesting, to review.

This book was exactly what I needed.
I'm reading this currently, one chapter at a time as if I'm taking a class. The illustrations and explanations are very helpful. After taking a crash course from an expert photographer years ago, this brings back memories of things he showed me and I did with my camera (but my cluttered mind didn't grasp at the time). I like how this is 7 books in 1. My camera, a Cannon 60D, is one of the cameras used in many of the illustrations - SCORE! I could have bought the book just about my camera, but I really like the additional information this book provides. As the author suggests, it is easy to skip ahead to what you want to know and refer back to what you need to review. I highly recommend getting this book if you need the general information as well as some detailed information to have in your tool box for the future.

A nice, easy to follow guide on the basics of DSLR photography highlighting the features of a multitude of DSLR camera makes (Canon, Nikon, Sony). Very useful if you want to improve your picture taking skills and you're clueless as I am.

Good starters guide. It would be more interactive if activities are included.

Contains useful information, but just try finding it! No logical progression in the subject matter, and certainly not an "easy guide" for someone who actually wants to take photographs.

Easy to use. Starter information as well as more in depth technical stuff.
