This switch works great - Only wish the instructions were more clear.
This switch is fantastic! I only wish the setup instructions were more clear. The visual guide has almost all of the needed steps but one is missing. This missing step may not impact everyone because your NVR/DVR may already be in the proper mode. Mine came in set up in the wrong network mode and there were no instructions to tell me what was going on. Due to possible language issues, tech support was not very helpful as their instructions also skipped this one step.Ok, your steps didn't quite make sense. I assume a language issue. But I did figure out what was going on and I got things set up.> Connect cameras to the switch's camera ports> Connect one of the switch's upstream port to the internet or router> Connect the other switch's upstream port to the NVR's network port> Connect cameras to the NVR directly if needed> Go into admin mode on the NVR, under netwok settings make sure the connection type is "NORMAL" not "DIRECT"The last step was the one that was missing from all the instructions and what should be on the switch installation sheet. Once switching to this mode, all cameras on the switch appeared to the NVR properly.

At the time of this review, by far the best value 8-port PoE switch for the money
After having an unacceptable failure rate with the Amcrest PoE switches (and noting that also couldn't keep up with higher resolution 2K cameras), I started researching for alternatives. After much deliberation and evaluating the advertised properties of about a dozen different brands, I settled on the OSSXX brand. They had good (but limited) reviews, the entire product line was fanless, they all have two uplink ports, and many have at least one SFP port—all at a competitive price point. I also contacted them about SFP compatibility, and while they didn't know specifically, they were easy to reach, were prompt and courteous, assuring me that it should "just work" (which it did).So far, these OOSSXX Gigabit PoE switches have been working flawlessly and exceeding expectations: Cameras of multiple types and Ubiquiti hotspots power up with ease and don't glitch. The two uplink ports come in very handy; you can use one to connect the Internet to a network of cameras, and the other port to monitoring equipment (like a PC or NVR), or to daisy-chain multiple of these units. The SFP port is no gimmick either; on my first two units, I purchased a pair of fiber transceivers (Amazon product B07894C7K1) and successfully used them to bridge IP security cameras in an outbuilding to the main building with the monitoring equipment. Reliability and throughput is good; and with the fiber interconnection, there is no risk of common-mode surges in an Ethernet cable between the two buildings blowing out equipment from nearby lightning strikes. I highly recommend these PoE switches, and ask the seller to hang in there and not discontinue them even if sales volume is low (I notice that the smaller unit was sadly discontinued).Internally, this unit has two boards: A regulated 48-56vdc switching power supply, and the Ethernet board. Two wires interconnect them (a positive and negative), with the negative being common. The Ethernet board contains the voltage regulators to drop the 48v down to the 3.3 or 5v needed to operate the unit's electronics, which means that even though they don't use an external power supply (like the Amcrest units did), you can still open them up and easily power them directly from a 48v DC battery bank, for battery backup or solar use scenarios (obviously this would void the warranty). The voltage sent to the connected Ethernet devices is just passed directly through, so don't use this unit to power 24v PoE devices (like some Ubiquiti equipment) without a converter (Ubiquiti sells one as this is a common problem).

A No-nonsense Plug & Play Unmanaged POE Switch
A no-nonsense Plug & Play Unmanaged POE Switch. Plug everything in & you're done. It works exactly how it's supposed to. Personally I had what I call a minor issue & that was with the power cord that was sent with it was too loose in the back of the switch. Replaced with another that was more of a snug fit. That was all, very simple & very easy fix. So far 27 days in, and is still working great. Doesn't seem to get hot, cool to the touch, it hasn't cut off randomly, I'd deft buy again. I added this to a OOSSXX wireless camera system, I left some wireless & added some POE injectors to some & needed a basic switch, this does the job perfectly.

Performs as well as an expensive switches
Folks like me who do a lot of networking all agree that one thing is inevitable...any network switch is going to have to be power-cycled every now and then, regardless of the name brand or how much you paid for it. I started using the OOSSXX 16+3 switches a couple of years ago and, to date, of the eleven 16+3 and several OOSSXX 8-port switches I've used, I haven't had a single failure. I simply got tired of paying through the nose for expensive switches and not getting any better performance, so I decided to give these lesser-priced switches a whirl. So far, I've been well-pleased.Again, note that networks sometimes get flaky and switches have to be power-cycled when that happens, but that's true of any switch I've ever used. We use these to supply PoE power to IP cameras and with the 300-watt power budget and three gigabit uplink ports, we have never had a problem with these switches doing the job they are advertised to do. DO NOTE that the sixteen PoE ports are fast ethernet (10/100) rather than gigabit (1000), but the IP cameras we use are rated 100mbps and use H.265 compression and even with a fully-loaded switch there's no noticeable latency. That, of course, is going to be affected by motion sensitivity settings, the number of cameras that are actively detecting motion at any given time, camera resolution, etc. Your mileage may vary. But we have had good results with OOSSXX products and intend to continue using them.

Lit up like a Christmas tree
Unboxed and plugged in with nothing connected to any port. All lights on the unit immediately started flashing and never stopped. Couldn't get one Ubiquiti access point to work. Very disappointed. I rarely use these off brands because I've had bad luck with them. Yes they're cheaper than the others but I've never had a name brand go bad out of the box. The job was 2 hours away and now I have to go back.

Excellent quality POE switch at a brilliant price
Was a bit apprehensive when bought this for a very good price but this has exceeded my expectations. Proper 240v as opposed to power brick which makes it a lot more convenient. comes with rack ears, mains lead and also the nice touch where the ports have removable covers so as to stop ingress of dust into the unused ports. POE works fine with no problems Unit runs just warm in daily use. I have 4 cameras on my unit plus it handles computers on network with no glitches.Would i recommend it to someone else... yes ..Would i buy again, Definitely.. solid 10/10 . very nice unit
