Got them to replace some mis bought (by me :-(, smaller ones to hold 8.5" plates which they do. Would probably take up to 9 or 10" at a pinch.Seem fairly sturdy though the feel a little rough in the hand. Still once in place they won't be moved much. Probably better in those more out of the way places than in the middle of the dinning room.
