A worthy addition to your quilting library..
If you are a quilter this book is a MUST HAVE, I just got this last night and have to say that it is probably the best book that I have bought for quilting. This book breaks down the type of block, then offers suggestions for quilting the block.... and has a cross reference to other patterns for that quilt relating to borders, sashing, etc.My one complaint is that the author must receive free Bernina sewing machines as she has a whole chapter dedicated to 2 of their newest machines. I get that they are obligated to pay homage to the company who gives them a machine.. but do it somewhere else..Other than that, the book is a worthy addition to your quilting library. Also, this is a very new book (I have purchased some that are 10 years or more and some information is no longer relevant.)

Not for beginners!
This is NOT a book for beginners! This is exactly what the title implies: An idea book, but there is nothing "basic" about it. The author introduces the book with 16 "allover designs" where the instructions are minimal. The bulk of the book shows progression pictures of block designs with no instructions other than, for example: Step 1: Stitch in the ditch. Step 2: Mark. Step 3. Final Step. I'll definitely put this on the shelf and maybe refer back to it after I have some experience with free-motion quilting. But this is definitely not a How-To book.

Free motion quilting to build a truly unique quilted effects
Free motioning whole cloth quilt is fairly easy to do BUT this illustrated a more block by block approach. Opened up many great ideas as I want to do more than echo quilt around patches. Inspiration to bring emphasis to the design rather than using one design only. It was easy to see shapes and decide which quilting enhancement to use.

Great quilting resource.
This book gives great instructions on how to quilt different designs . It is spiral bound so it will lay flat as I use it to refer to as I quilt.

I love this book
I love this book. I, like most of us quilters, suffer from "quilters block." Sometimes I just can't seem to come up with a quilt design for my quilts. Often times they sit on the quilt frame and I just get that deer in the headlights look and have to walk away for a while. Now, I can flip through this book and it is much easier for me to envision designs that will work for just about any style quilt I have in front of me. Thanks, Amanda Murphy.

Almost 5 stars
This an excellent reference with great ideas. The Kindle version has no table of contents and the referenced pages in the index don’t match up. If they had formatted the Kindle version better I would have given 5 stars.

Lots of ideas and visuals
Great idea book. Although this is block related, it shows a perspective on designs can be put together in a block and then shows the resulting overall effect of the quilting designs on the block. This also provides ideas on mixing and matching patterns and how to divide up the patterns within a block.

The best book I’ve seen on quilting the quilt top!
Awesome book! Shows each design step by step and then how to integrate other designs into it. As a beginner, this is just what I needed. They show you typical block examples and then how to quilt it in. I recommend this book to everyone!

Great book - shame about the cover!
This is a really great addition to my quilting library - and I have lots of books! What I like most of all is the breakdown diagrams of how the patterns are formed - most unusual and very helpful. There are also lots of ideas of which patterns to use in different parts of your quilt depending on the blocks used. There are ideas for planning the quilting taking into account the style of blocks you have used. Really like the book a lot.The only reason this book doesn't get 5 stars is due to the cover. The outer cover is really poor quality paper/card - really lets the book down. Considering how much this book will be used its going to be crumpled in no time unless I add a lamination myself (which I probably will).Inside the front cover the book is spiral bound to lay flat which is great.Definitely worth having.

Great little book!
Love the format of this little book packed with step by step free motion quilt designs. The ring bound construction makes it easy to remain open at selected page. Instructions on how to quilt individual blocks in a variety of patterns instead of an all over quilt design.I am really enjoying this book-it opens up a multitude of possibilities once you gain confidence. It's the perfect go anywhere size too.

Free-motion quilting book
Some great ideas in this book, with step by step instructions and as it comes in a spiral bound edition it is easy to prop open next to your sewing machine as you practice free-motion quilting. Hopefully I will be able to improve my free-motion with the help of this book

Great resource
Although I have been free motion quilting for a long time I usually struggle with ideas on how my quilts should be quilted. This is a tremendous resource. All quilters should have this on their bookshelf.
