Perfect for Saving Old Memories!
I got this external CD/DVD drive to transfer my wedding photos from an old CD to the cloud, and it worked perfectly! Super easy to use—just plugged it into my laptop and it was ready to go. No extra setup or tech headaches.I was able to pull the photos off the disc and upload them to Amazon Photos without any issues. It’s lightweight and easy to tuck away when I’m not using it, which I really appreciate since space is tight on my desk.It also comes with both USB 3.0 and USB-C connections, which made it super flexible for different devices. Great little drive to have if you’re looking to back up old memories or access discs on a newer computer!

Great DVD Drive for Laptops Without One
I bought this ROOFULL external CD/DVD drive because my laptop doesn’t come with a built-in DVD player anymore (like most modern laptops), and I’m really happy with it.It was truly plug-and-play—just connected it via USB, and it worked right away without needing any extra drivers. I've used it to play DVDs and install some older software from discs, and everything ran smoothly. The build quality feels solid, and the performance has been reliable so far. It’s compact, easy to carry, and does exactly what I need. If you’re looking for a no-fuss external DVD drive, this one gets the job done.✅ Pros:Works right out of the boxSolid build, quiet operationGreat for laptops without DVD drives❌ Cons:None so far

Great Product but short data cable
So far this CD drive has worked wonderfully. It's fast enough to run my old PC games. The only downside of the drive is the data cable is very short so I had to buy a USB-C to USB-C extension cable to reach my gaming computer which is under my desk. I can see it being very easy to travel with if you have a Laptop though, and it comes with a nice carrying case.

Deliverd on promises and meets my needs perfectly without additional software installation
Using the ROOFULL external DVD/CD drive was a straightforward experience. I simply plugged a USB-C cable into one of the Thunderbolt ports on my Windows 11 Pro laptop, and it functioned like a built-in internal DVD/CD R/W drive. The use of my Thunderbolt ports made it unnecessary to use the USB cable for additional power. When I inserted an audio CD into the drive, I had the option to listen to the songs using either Windows Media Player or the iTunes app, which I had downloaded and installed on my laptop. By using iTunes, I was able to import the songs into my iTunes library, allowing me to play them without needing to have the ROOFULL external DVD/CD drive connected to my system. The speed varied between 6x and 20x, depending on the task I was performing. When using iTunes to import audio files into MP3 format, the process was slower, generally around 8x to 10x on my laptop, a Lenovo Yoga 7i Aura Edition 15.It accomplishes what it promises and meets my needs perfectly without requiring additional software installation on my laptop.

Great product.
Great product to pair with a Surface pro.-- May need a powered USB hub or the use of the power in USB cable. [ Do not plug power cable & Data cable to the same same USB hub of a computer {would defeat the point, as if the USB hub had enough power the power cable wouldn't be needed }== power USB cable wasn't included [Not a problem, usb-a to micro usb (b)]-- This is a non-issue for a Surface pro. the charger it self has a spare powered USB-A port for the device & you can freely plug the dvd drive into the surface after w/o any issues. The power cable is universal & replacable.... sooooo you can get a length that matches your power cord for your system, to avoid any issues,W10 compatible & dvdfab compatible. The cable is 'way' shorter then I would like, making it more interesting to position in tighter spots with 2in1/laptop systems.-- Data Cable is to short to be of any functional use for a 'tablet' system, or most full sized desktops (depending on where your USB ports are)This is really a great companion to a small form factor/smaller desktop, a 2in1 laptop, laptop/notebook computer, as no other use case would seem to make sense & require Hw that would suggest you're more likely to have a better setup for it.-- the Short cable does seem to be an issue for standard desktop sizes, as unless you're USB3 ports are within 4 inches of the desk.. the space where you could put it is exceptionally limited & will likely cause more problems then it'll solve for that setup. The carrying case is nice, pairs well with other tighter weaved cases for mobile/laptops/2in1s that looks decent & will help deflect any accidental liquid & give a comfortable amount of cushion to the device, so it is safe in a normal day to day bag even on rougher transportation.Great price, Great product,Could use better communication on possible issues (if you use an underpowered USB port, & how to properly address it)

Excellent device for the price!
I purchased this CD/DVD drive to replace an Apple drive. Actually, to replace two Apple drives. The first Apple drive just stopped working after a number of months. A CD disc is stuck in the second drive. The Apple drive costs more than twice as much as the Roofull. I also specifically wanted an external drive with an ejecting disc tray and a forced ejection hole.I like that the drive reads just about all cd formats. I use the drive primarily to upload edited songs to my computer and to burn songs to blank cds. The drive reads and uploads very quickly. The quality of the sound of the uploaded songs and the quality on the burned cds is excellent.Although I don't usually watch dads on my computer, I tried playing a dvd. When I loaded the dvd in the drive a menu box opened on my iMac computer. I had to select the number of my geographical location in the world which I picked from the displayed map which took a couple of seconds and then the dvd started right away and ran beautifully.Although I didn't have to use it, one can obtain technical support if one has trouble getting the drive connected to and working with their computer. I was worried that the USB cord might not be long enough for me to position the drive in a location that would permit easy, convenient usage, but that was not a problem at all.Other details that I like....the cord fits in to the bottom of the drive; so when not in use or when carrying, there is no dangling cord or plugs. There is also a nice soft, slightly padded carrying case with an external zippered pocket that could store a dust cloth etc.So far, I am very happy with my purchase!

Drive is Very Easy to Use and the Included Case is of Better Quality than Expected
My current laptop doesn't have an optical drive (a common situation with the latest laptops). I needed an external drive for installing some older software and eventually decided on this ROOFULL external CD/DVD drive.Drive: I've used the drive multiple times now, for reading/installing program CDs on a laptop. It was immediately recognized by both a 6 year old and 1 year old laptop (both running Win 10). The disk tray ejects and closes as one would expect. While reading a disk it was quiet and efficient. I tested both connection types (USB 3.0, Type-C) and both performed well. The 2-in-1 cable tucks snugly into the underside of the drive, which is a clever way to prevent losing the cable - a problem I've had with external drives in the past. It is light enough to toss in a bag and go. I can not speak to it's disk burning features, as I haven't used it for this purpose. My only improvement suggestion would be to make the 2-in-1 cable longer. It currently is about 10 inches long, but having an additional 6 inches would've put it within easy reach when it's plugged into the back my laptop. For this inconvenience, I deducted 1 star from the "Easy to Use" rating.Storage Case: The included gray carrying case is of much better quality than I expected. It's well-padded interior makes me confident that it will provide great protection for short drops or bumping around in a travel bag/backpack. The exterior zippered pocket proved handy for storing an additional cable and thumb drive.Bottom Line: I found the drive to be extremely easy to use...definitely "plug n play" for my application. It appears to be solidly constructed. It performed consistently well through-out my usage. The value is definitely there for me, with the $23.99 price (Oct 2020) making it a "no-brainer" purchase. A great solution if you need to access disks on a laptop with no internal optical drive.

An excellent unit
I got this external DVD drive 2 weeks ago, and tried it out extensively before writing this review.Things I like about this product:1- It works well right out of the box. I have Windows and Linux systems, and works fine with both.I don't have Apple, but reading the instruction, that system will recognize the DVD writer once thereis a disc inside.2- It seems to be well built. It is of course made with plastic like all the other writers, so inherentlyfragile, but everything clicks properly. So far I have used it mostly for burning DVDs, about 12 sofar, and it has done so without errors. The speed is in line with other writers.3- The carrying case. There is another unit, that seems to be the same but without it, for a few dollarsless. I suggest you buy this one, as the case is surprisingly well made, and will offer realprotection.4- The warranty. It has an 18 months warranty, already longer than most, and the company offers a free2 years extension. I don’t know of any other company that does that.5- It has an extra power supply cable, in case your laptop is not strong enough to power it.That must be a rare circumstance, it doesn’t take more power than others, but it is a nice touch.Things I don’t particularly like:Only one: the cable. It is short and while this is not a problem with laptops, actually could be a plus,to connect it to a usb port at the back of a tower, as suggested by the instructions, would be difficult. Also, it is hard wired to the unit, and stores very neatly in the back, a plus in that you will never loseit, a minus in that if it get damaged you cannot change it.All in all, I recommend it as it appears to be an excellent product.
