Gives the basics, but not very thorough
I am a new conure owner, and i wanted to make sure I am doing things right from the beginning. This book gives some very good insight into the basics, such as selecting the cage, picking toys, interactions, grooming, possible health issues, and so on. However, it does not go into much detail in other areas. For example, the book advocates throughout having the bird's wings clipped and not letting them fly. It does not mention anything about what to do if you choose to keep your conure flightful, the process of learning to fly, the dangers and obstacles, and so on. The book talks a little about diet, however it does not go into the details of conure nutrition needs, and pretty much leaves you on your own if your bird is having issues - "go talk to a veterinarian". There is a brief mention of training, but no specific examples of how to elicit certain behaviors, deter undesired ones, how to use a reward system, or anything of the sort. The book mentions that the bird "might learn to talk", i.e. mimic human language, but no specific detail on how to stimulate it, or interpret it once / if it happens.

good information
We received a 17 yr old Conure. This book has been a life saver! Just today I took Dusty to the bird vet because the picture in the book of the Conure's beak didn't match what Dusty's beak looked like. He wasn't getting a good bite on anything and was considered underweight by the vet. And while checking out his beak in the book I came across the section on how loving they are. He and I have had a great time giving kisses and pets (and I thought I was going to get his mean side because I had to catch him with a towel).

Our favorite conure book
I bought 4 conure books on Amazon and this is one of the best two. My husband read it too and it taught him plenty about these birds and how to care for them. It's great for reference, I definitely recommend it. Get it before you get your bird :)

Great book to get schooled about conures
I recently acquired two conures and wanted to know about their behaviours. This book taught me to recognize some body languages, noises, and what they like to do. It also had an extensive list of dangers to your conure along with a list of good things for them. Good book!

Good basic info
This book is enjoyable to read, and makes you aware of every aspect you need to consider before adopting a conure. However, for more specific info, or for demonstrations of certain tasks (such as different ways to bathe your bird, for example), I would recommend going to YouTube. Again, though, this book is terrific as a starting place to make sure you've got everything ready for the newest member of your family.

A Very Good Learning Tool
The book wasn’t for me, I sent it to a friend who had just purchased a Sun Conure so he’d have a companion. He found the book very helpful, especially when it came to feeding tips. He was very glad to have this book!

More about breeds than training
Not what I expected. I thought it would have more handy tips on training instead it told me lots of information on the difference breeds.

Great
I bought this book for an elderly friend of mine. She lives on her own and was lonely after her beloved budgie passed away. She decided to buy a Conure but knew little about them. Seemingly, they are a small parrot, which I didn't know. This book has been like her bible and she cant thank me enough. It has everything you need to know about this bird so would highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about buying a Conure!
