Scotty #433 Coaming Clamp w/ #428 Gear Head Adapter Black, Small

This is sturdier and more substantial than expected. The ‘diagonal’ configuration of this clamp allows to to clamp to the small metal trim on the gunnel of our ultralight canoe. We found we could only use this type, as others are more of a vice that clamp on the gunnel below the trim piece. On our Kevlar canoe, that materials is very flexible - it may be fine but if feels like it could crack the gel coat.

I bought this product hoping I could troll from my canoe. I was crestfallen to find that the mount wouldn't open large enough to attach to my gunwale. I sent it back, along with the rod holder itself. I was not credited the refund for both items, despite sending them back in the same box.

The clamp fits on my Wilderness Systems Pamiico tandem sit inside kayak. Used the clamp with a Scotty rocket launcher and spin/baitcaster rod holder to troll some small trout lures. Wasn't a good time for fishing so no hookups. Will have to see how the clamp holds with a fish on the line before I can give it 5 stars. Did not want to drill holes in my kayak to attach rod holders - glad to see Scotty come out with this option for attaching gear to kayaks.

I mounted this on an old fiberglass canoe. Works excellent. Easy to install, easy to move around, and very sturdy.As usual Scotty makes a great product.

Its crap. 3 days out of return window it broke. Cannot get a replacement.

It fit onto the gunnel of my Old Town Vapor Angler 10 but in order to get it off I had to dismantle it. It's not that big a deal, but I can imagine someone damaging their gunnel if they're not careful.

Could clamp a little more rigidly on my aluminum boat, but I think it will work well enough.

Great product! Mounts right to side of my wilderness kayak with no problem. Very sturdy. Its also nice because there are multiple attachments available for this mount. The scotty rod holder I bought fits perfectly into the mount and is very secure. A quick twisting motion releases attachments from the mount. Recommend!

Love this for back country camping. Beats holding the rod in your legs any day. A little pricey but it does the job perfectly. Very solid and sturdy. Adjusts to any angle. Own two now for when I am not solo paddling.~outbound2explore
