Linear Algebra

I am a biomedical engineering student who is doing linear algebra without really understanding the manipulations I am performing on my datasets. Out of curiosity, I decided that I was going to learn the method to the matrix operations and this book was abundantly clear. Lots of proofs and corollaries that give insight to the origin of the operations. Will be lending this book to my peers when I am done with it!

Perfect!

Bought it for school, came in perfect condition. As far as the content in the book I wish that the concepts and theorems were more clearly differentiated from other content in the book; consequently everything is just sort of jumbled together. But other than that it's a good book!

I am sure that it is a wonderful book on a subject at least a thousand other books exist. The book that made Paul Halmos world famous on the same subject, for example, is 12 dollars here on Amazon. A quick comparison of the table of contents suggests that the coverage is very similar. Unfortunately, many people are buying this book not because they chose to, but because someone else made the choice for them.

See Dover Publishing's Linear Algebra by Shilov for a better text that is far cheaper. It is astounding how terrible this book is in comparison. When I used this book to first learn Linear, I did not understand much. Upon reading Shilov, I discovered Linear is actually very straightforward to understand.The 5 star ratings are from people who have not read other books certainly. This is not a good textbook, save your money.
