Our Classic Electrostatic Motor converts high voltage DC (static) electricity into rotational motion through electrostatic attraction and repulsion of opposite charges. The operating principle is similar to a conventional dc motor which uses magnetic attraction and repulsion versus electrostatic. To operate the Classic Electrostatic Motor, place on flat surface. Ensure high voltage power supply is in close proximity. For Van de Graaff generators, 6 inches to 1 for and for Wimshurst machines, 1-4 inches from discharge electrodes.
