Temp spike from 77F to 90F - don’t cook your fish
First unit worked for less than a month before a worrying clicking sound and spike in temperature. I set it to 77F and it was moving towards 80F. A replacement was sent. Replacement worked for 2 months before displaying error message that corresponds to unit reaching temperatures that were too high. Contacted seller who asked for proof. I offered to send pictures which are hard to get underwater. They sent info on how to reset it. Unit reset and error message disappeared. HOWEVER, the temperate started to spike from77F to 90F. 90!!!! My fish could have died with that kind of jump. Luckily I noticed and unplugged the unit. 2 defective units. No accountability

Easy to read and program, stays at a constant temperature
LOVE this heater! We had one of the glass tube ones for our 40 gallon saltwater tank. I had that thing down to 68 degrees F and the temp was reading 84!! After losing most of our clean up crew, we decided to get this fancy digital one. It cost a little more than some of the others but it's WELL worth it. We have it set to 74 degrees, the perfect temperature for our maroon clownfish, and it's staying exactly at that exact temperature. We put it right in the middle of the back wall of the tank and the whole aquarium is staying at an even 74 degrees and all tank inhabitants are very happy. Best purchase we have made in awhile!EDIT: After 8 months of use, I came down to find my clownfish tank at almost 84 degrees... Far higher than the 77 degrees I'd set it at. My poor fish could have died. Really bummed this thing malfunctioned...

A black and gold male betta in a 10 gallon tank
It’s not the best heater I’ve ever had, but it works. I found it kinda difficult to understand the directions for setting it and turning it off and on, I feel like a seance would be less complicated.I just wanted some back up heat for my betta in my small tank on my desk and it works fine for that so far. I don’t think I’d choose this brand for my big aquarium with more expensive fish in it.I have 2 thermometers on my betta’s tank (one is the heater itself). My betta sits on my desk so I’m watching it very often so I’ll quickly notice any huge changes in temperature do to the heater and far so good.

Test it in a bucket of water 1st!!
I didn't give this product 5 stars because I received a defective heater, that had very obviously been returned by some other customer. Box seal broken & water spots on the housing. The heater was in tank 12 hours when we noticed condensation on the inside of the display window. Showing that the housing wasn't water tight. When the replacement comes, will run it in a bucket of water overnight before placing in tank. Hoping for good things from this product, as we have 3 other tanks.

Ten degrees cooler than display temp
The biggest problem I have is that this heater is not acurate. It has. Easy to read display, is simple to operate, and looks nice in the tank but the displayed temperature is always a full TEN DEGREES higher than the actual temperature of the water. After measuring the water temperature with a wide variety of thermometers of different types (infrared, analog, etc...) none of them displayed within ten degrees of what was shown on this unit.Very disappointed with this purchase.

7 months until death of heater
This heater struggled to keep 9 gallons of water heated to 82 degrees. It was constantly running. Last night I turned it off so I could clean the tank. When I filled the water back up and submerged the heater, I turned it back on. It started up but then about 30 seconds later the light went out and it would not turn on. I purchased it on March 2, 2020. It lasted about 7 months exactly. Not very good in my opinion. I have an aquarium heater in my chicken water bucket for winters in Wisconsin. So we are talking -30 degree temperatures. I have had it for 4 winters, this will be my 5th, and it is still going strong. That was a $10 stick heater. Time to go back to those!

So far seems to be working well
But I have had this type of heater before and even though it said 77 degrees on the readout, it was actual 65 degrees and most of my fish were dying. I suggest everyone have an extra thermometer in their aquarium. You can get little digital ones in a 3 pack here on Amazon for $10. As all my heaters are digital, I double check with these little digitals to ensure my water is the correct temperature.

Product was sealed yet I was glitter bombed?
Received this aquarium heater today. The box was sealed with a quality control inspection sticker. When I opened it and pulled it out of the bubble wrap this grey metallic glitter looking substance was all over it and dumped onto my lap. Not sure what the glitter looking stuff is. Maybe some sort of aquarium sand or powder (hopefully)? Definitely looks used. For what previously I have no clue.
