Disappointing
I was so looking forward to receiving this 'block', but compared to an earlier wooden chopping board, very expensive. Not good value.

arrived in safe and secure packaging, unblemished
This is my 3rd Boos BlockI've seen some folks say this item is not shipped well. I have no idea who wrapped their shipment, I can just tell you my own experience. This item arrived in perfect condition, wrapped in heavy commercial plastic wrap, placed inside a heavy shipping box which was placed inside an Amazon padded shipping bag. There were absolutely no blemishes or defects of any kind on this item or my other Boos Blocks.I take care to prep my blocks before use as advised and thus far has never had any issues. I just received this one today so I obviously can not speak to anything about use, but it did arrive exactly as described. If it is even close to being as good as my other two blocks, I'm golden. I would 100% buy again and would buy as a gift. Great products from Boos.

Great cutting board for small kitchens
This 12 inch cutting board is great for making meals for two. I actually own the larger, 18" x 12" x 2.25" board as well but having since moved to a smaller apartment with less counter space, the large board took up too much space in my kitchen to be used for making two person meals on a daily basis. I bought the 12" board and couldn't be happier with the size. It's perfectly square and comes with four feet that protect the bottom of the board from water and food juices, a feature I really love about the board. I chose to go with a Boos block because they're made from maple, a softer wood that is easy on knives and tends not to dull knives as quickly as bamboo and plastic cutting boards. If you have a set of high quality knives I would definitely go with a maple cutting board to extend the lifespan of your knives. The board will show knife marks over time and use, but I find this fairly normal since the wood is softer than bamboo. I've uploaded photos comparing the 12 inch square maple cutting board to the larger 18x12 Boos block I also own for size reference.Cleaning:One thing I do recommend for cleaning the board is to use a wet paper towel and wipe down the board after you're done using it instead of throwing it into the sink and running it under water. I have never run it directly under water or used dish detergent on the board, since the wood can soak up the chemicals from the dish detergent. I noticed that when cutting green onions or any herb, the smell will tend to "soak" into the board. When this happens I take some slices of lemon and sprinkle some coarse salt over the board and rub it in a few times with the lemon/ salt scrub mixture. I let it sit for about 5 minutes and then wipe it off. The lemon helps neutralize the odors and keep new food from picking up the odor.Care:I bought the Boo's mystery oil and the bee's wax to condition the board and use the oil once the board starts looking a bit dry (about one to two times a week). You'll notice the board is dry when it begins to look white and no longer the rich wood color on top. I use the bees wax about twice a month to keep the waxy layer on the board and that really helps with preventing water from being soaked into the board. I've had this cutting board now for over a year use it on a daily basis, and haven't had any problems with it. This is my second Boo's block cutting board and I really love the quality of these boards. I've had all kinds of boards from plastic to bamboo and had various bamboo boards break in half, but haven't encountered any issues with the Boo's block! Just be sure to take good care of the board, these boards do require more care than the typical cutting board but I think it's worth it considering how long they last.
