Floating and talking, like a Star. Floyd Calhoun comments.
So, we installed a swimming pool in our backyard. Water, kids, family, friends, and fun, fun, fun. What didn't fit the equation was a cell phone or home phone near or in (yes, in the pool--twice, UGH!). So, I set out to find the solution and this Uniden Water Resistant Cordless Phone was the perfect answer. We were able to have a phone by the pool and, in my true movie-starlet fashion, my wife and daughter were able to float in the pool, basking in the sun while chatting with girlfriends. Product indicates water resistant... our experience it is more like water proof. Our kids made attempts to talk while underwater and the phone survived those types of uses with zero issues. Floyd Calhoun indicates this is absolutely a smart buy for outside use of any kind--especially next to pools, hot tubs, car washes, or any other location where water and phones do not mesh well.

Nice phone for the pool
We got this phone so that we could have a phone out by the pool (yes, how we suffer). We wanted a phone that we could talk on while we're floating in the pool, splashing around, etc. The Uniden WX1377 fits the bill quite nicely. We were hoping to find a 5.8 Ghz phone for outside, to match the rest of our cordless phones, but this one works quite well. We've had a little bit of static using it once, and had to go inside and switch to a "real" phone. We've tossed this phone in the water (it does float) and picked it up and talked directly in the water.we're outside, there is a lot of noise, and we want a LOUD ring. This phone doesn't have one. But other than that - a fine outside phone for all-weather use. And if you have a swimming pool, you definitely want this phone.

Dead on Arrival
I ordered the Uniden WXI 377 submersible cordless phone (refurbished) to use with my Magic Jack mostly for travel. It is a great looking phone in addition to being water resistant, rugged and reasonably priced. I read the manual, activated the handset and charged the unit for 24 hours, attached the phone line and nothing. Absolutely nothing. I did get a red light indicating that the battery was charging and could feel that the battery compartment was a little warm, but no dial tone, no illuminated screen and nothing but disappointment. I will return this one and get a replacement with high hopes that the new one will at least operate. I did not expect much for under $20, but I did expect it to at least work.

Listed as a refurb. Cost <$30. Dead battery. Had to buy another battery for $10. Caller ID doesn't work. Phone itself rings and works.

Waterproof but poor reception
As the title suggests this phone is terrific aound the pool. It has been completely submerged several times and still works as well as it did the day I got it. That is not, however, a good thing. I find the reception poor - even at a range of 5-15 feet unobstructed. It definately does not compare to the newer phones with better technology. I understand that panasonic has a new waterproof phone. I may give that a try and leave this phone for my kids to use.

TheDevilDamnBestPhone. More so with MagicJack!
900MHz means better for within-home use.Best combination of voice quality, features and feel.If you like the looks of Hummer it's for you.Used with MagicJack it SHOWS caller ID.With one-touch... Just one...not two... not three... you can hear all your voicemails.Insert PAUSE is VERY USEFUL FEATURE.Memory redial, call/ed list is actually useful.RocketDial is innovative.Two-touch-10 numbers are good.Battery life is good. All the claims are valid.I'd buy it for 100$ OVER AT&T or Panasonic or GE phones with 100$.BAD:Stupid people think you are stupid for using 900MHz.Those who cannot appreciate /use features can pass this phone by as just an yellow phone. It does NOT have a slot for SIM card.It does not have an inbuilt knife. It cannot surf internet.Long Lasting... hence you'll not be able to blame the manufacturer for your penchant for novelty every two years.Overall:The only reasons NOT to buy:You don't need/want.You dislike the looks.

A great phone! Threw it in the hot tub, No problems.
I tested the phone the first day by throwing it into the water. My wife was quite unhappy with that, but I figure test the warranty day one.The phone is quite waterproof, buttons easy to press while wet and in the hot tub, good ringer volume, nice caller ID. Highly recommend for use in your hot tub.

This phone is great
I purchased this phone because of the waterproof feature. I owna restaurant and this is the only cordless phone that has stoodup to tough handling. (ie. wet hands, splattering milkshakes, dropping, etc.) I have had this phone over a year and it stilldoes the job. The range is not really an issue with me, but there is staticif I take it to my office in the rear of thebuilding. However, this is not much different than others I have owned. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was that I wish it had an earpiecevolumn and the words on some of the keys are wearingoff from constant use.
