Edition:Kids A 2002 study on parent-child communication found that adolescents who can openly communicate with their parents or caregivers on a regular basis, and feel like they are being heard, are less likely to engage in a wide range of risky behaviors. Can We Talk Cards: Kids Edition are a helpful tool designed to help adults keep the lines of communication open between them and the children in their lives. Ideal for kids ages 6-17, they’re useful for people who spend time with children, including parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, caregivers, teachers, coaches, therapists, and more. Sample Questions Include: What do you like about yourself? What faraway place do you dream of going to? What makes someone a good friend?  OTHER TIPS Each deck is about 3 inches in size, so they’re smaller than a standard deck of playing cards (see pics below for reference). They’re small because we want to make it easy for you to strike up conversations anywhere you go. Each deck is shrink-wrapped and packaged tightly. It may take a little finessing to get the box open without ripping the top flap. Try opening the bottom flap for a smoother process. For each card, ask why or why not, when appropriate. Practice healthy communication skills by listening without judging to the responses For teachers, these are also great for a writing or journaling assignment, public speaking skills practice, or attendance activity.
