A wonderful gift for creative play!
I teach yoga to people of all ages, including my son's preschool class of three year-olds. I think this set is truly wonderful. :-)I guess I'm writing in response to the oh, please review. That parent might wish to take a second look from a different perspective. I am an instructor and know the value of good instruction with a qualified teacher, but kids just naturally do yoga! Parents can use common sense to help kids practice safely at home. This deck stimulates creativity. Yoga for kids is FUN!!! So many things in life are serious enough. I am serious about my own practice, but light-hearted, too. I have Babar's Yoga for Elephants (LOVE IT!), but that is a little too "old" for my son, as yet. This deck he has been using since his third birthday. The illustrations are light-hearted and bright! The names reflect things found in nature and our world. The author named parsvottanasana "pyramid" and pascimottanasana as "river" in this deck. She uses imagery i.e., "Imagine that your legs are the sandy river bottom and your spine is the water flowing down." Pyramid works! Your legs need to be really strong and stable to hold this pose, like a pyramid. Maybe the cutesy name referred to was "upside-down gorilla." (The deck is recommended for ages 4 and up. I wouldn't use some of the names with my adult classes, unless the intention of the class were PLAY!, maybe! but this deck is intended for children. A lot of the names match the English translation of the Sanskrit.) The author knows that kids loooooove imaginative play! She gives suggestions for encouraging kids to use their imagination within the poses to get a real feeling for the poses as they practice. The deck is color-coded with breathing poses, sitting and standing poses, upside-down and forward-bending poses, backward-bending poses, twisting poses, partner poses and resting poses. She gives suggestions for incorporating artwork, language arts, cooperation, non-competitiveness and listening to one's own body into the practice of yoga. Their are some "strings" of poses suggested as well as ideas for creating your own strings, using cards of different colors. Each card has on the front side an illustration of each pose, like the one shown on the front of the box. On the back she has written instructions to give for getting into and out of the pose, as well as suggestions for how to be in the pose - breathing, feeling sensation different places. Below she has suggestions for moving deeper, for expressing how the pose affected you with words, art, finding things that resemble the pose in nature, etc. This deck is truly a wonderful gift for those wishing to share the spirit and beauty of yoga with children. This touches kids beyond the physical of just how to get into the outer form of a pose. There are some other neat books for kids out there like Fly Like a Butterfly, Playful Family Yoga, Thia Luby's book, The Idiot's Guide to Yoga with Kids, among others. This deck is very accessible (easy to just pick a card, more so than paging through a book, to be honest), safely and effectively sequenced, inspiring for children's (and adult) creativity and just a joy to use! I highly recommend it!!! I hope this review is useful!

Fun for my 3 year old and me
I'm a complete beginner with yoga but have taken a few sessions at the YMCA. When she was 2 my daughter expressed interest in simple yoga poses when I did them. I found a beginner's yoga iPhone app through which she learned a few poses. This deck is easy for her to use and she loves picking one out and bringing it to me to ask if she can do it or, if it's a partner one, if we can do it together. I've had it a few months and she still isn't tired of it.The cards are large, colorful, and durable enough that she hasn't bent one yet. I love the fact that the cards are color coded by category so I can easily spot the type of stretch or rest desired. They come in a sturdy box with separate lid that is much better than the typical playing card box that gets torn up the first time your kids get their hands on it.

Self buiding yoga routine
We bought this several years ago when my kids were 3 and 5. Each card has a different pose on it and on the back are instructions as well as other activities and breathing exercises you can do with each pose. The cards are color coded for breathing poses, partner poses, standing poses, sitting poses, and cooling down. The instructions include sample routines or you can make your own. We really like the Rainbow routine which samples a few of each of the different colored cards. I practice with my kids and sometimes create my own routine when I'm by myself. The down side is that unless you practice the poses or routines several times, it's hard to create flow between each pose.

For little yogis
My boys LOVE pulling out their choices and making a sequence. They need a little help sometimes explaining what on earth the person is doing in the picture. I do wish they had used pictures of real kids doing the pose instead of the art. As kids who aren't reading well yet can't always decipher if the person is doing the pose standing or lying on the ground. But as a teaching tool this is fantastic. It has a lot of great tips and ideas on the back of each card to read to the kids. I can see where yoga instructors, teachers in school, homeschooling parents, and yogi - parents in general would benefit having these on the shelf.

Great fun for kids!
I am such a fan of the Yoga Deck series. I have had the original Yoga Deck for ages, own the Yoga Deck II and the Pregnancy Yoga Deck. My daughter (who is eight) has been doing yoga videos for kids for a while but sometimes just wants to practice some postures. This lets her design her own routines and stretch in whatever way suits her for that day for whatever amount of time she desires but it does so in such a kid friendly way. I think she really enjoys the freedom this deck gives her just I have gotten from my own decks over the years. I cannot recommend these decks enough!

Fun yoga poses to do with kids
Fun yoga poses to do with kids! Directions are easy to follow, and it definitely keeps kids engaged.I do wish that the cards had the official yoga pose names on them though, instead of other, similar names. I'm not a yoga guru, but I was trying to relate the post to what I'd done in yoga class before, and the names of the poses on the cards were confusing me. But, I still gave it five stars!

I teach yoga to kids and was looking for good cards for ages
I teach yoga to kids and was looking for good cards for ages. these cards are excellent, I plan all my classes using a book from my teacher training course, then I pick a card that works with the theme. each card gives breathing and positioning advice which is excellent . I have not used the pictures on the cards of the poses during classwith the children because they aren't very clear for a child learning yoga as a beginner. but from a teachers point of view they are perfect! There are about 4 relaxation cards which are nice, this may not be enough for some though. The cards are colour coded which is so handy, they are divided into beginner poses etc. Very happy with this purchase!

Brilliant!
I bought these as well as the yoga Pretzels. These are smaller than the pretzels but also cheaper and for anybody working with children 'variety is the spice of life' so two packs is fine. They have lots of different postures as well as partner postures and breathing practices.I love them.

Very useful
I teach children's yoga and this added a fun new element. The children loved choosing the poses themselves or I would hide them under their mats and they would discover them. The info on the back was fairly useful too. Some of the breathing cards were a bit similar and a couple of poses are too challenging for children but overall they are a good extra tool.

Easy to read an follow but not as detailed as I'd hoped
Some classic postures have been given quite different and unexpected names. It's not entirely clear what ages are being targeted. However the postures are grouped and there some nice ideas for different approaches / ideas and also for working in pairs or groups. The pictures are brightly coloured but not too clear. A good starting point for teaching yoga to children.
