IRWIN Drill And Tap Set, 13-Piece (80185)

Very simple set of taps and matched drill bits. For someone who doesn't need a full set of taps and dies, these are an adequate set of common, yankee sized threads. Have used them off and on for aa bit over a month now. No surprises; working adequately for my needs in brass, aluminum, and sintered cast iron.

I use these frequently. The packaging takes up a bit of room in the tool case, but they cut well, have not broken yet and the plastic keeps them organized.

I find and restore 100 year old traffic signals,....yes, traffic signals.They are pretty crusty usually and have nuts or screws that are corroded/seized and will snap off when you try to remove them. I bought this set to drill out and retap the holes. It has worked great and has held up well.The only drawback to this set is the holder. It never worked for me and I gave up on it. I use a small pair of Vise Grip pliers to turn the tap. Works well.

The taps work well, however, the wrench will not work the smallest tap included in the kit

good item to have around the house. No need to figure what drill goes with what tap.

The tap holder does not hold the smaller sizes. It strips rather than tightening (#8 -32). No big deal for me as I have other holders but I expected more and it might be a hassle for you if you don't. It says taps are made in USA and being really tired of the ones made of chineaseum -that is the main reason I got these. The drill bits are just ok but I like having the matched pairs instead of searching for the right bit. Tip: Don't discard the container. It is a holder of sorts and will keep the right bit paired with the right tap as the plastic is sized for each. If you lose this you need to tape them together or try to read tiny numbers.
