History comes alive in this adventurous mystery!
Loved the story! I have been to the Taj a few times and the descriptions of the Taj, its streets, the bargainings, the various carts and the like, brought those memories to life.. Sid's POV is interesting and the weaving of history into a modern story is sure to inculcate a love for history among the young readers.. Loved the time travel and the mystery and look forward to many more adventures of Sid and his camera! I also liked the way that the author has created Sid and focuses on his carefulness, especially about money; his rapport with his father; Sid and Raj's bonding, their mature handling of the situation; and the lovely and intricate illustrations by 11 year old Ananya.. This educating as well as entertaining book is highly recommended for young readers!

A most enjoyable, educational and adventurous time travel
What a great read! The author has an acute understanding of what it must be like for a fifth-grader from New Jersey to arrive with his dad in India. The friendship that quickly forms between two boys and the opening of eyes to new experiences for both of them (despite it being about the 12th visit for the Indian boy) is wonderful and makes you feel as if it is your very own experience. It is rich in detail of both setting, historical fact and cultural practices, yet without coming across as a history book. This is a great novel of twists and turns, and good surprises had. As a reader and traveller to India on a number of occasions and alas, having as yet actually never had the opportunity to visit the Taj Mahal, I personally found the story so very enjoyable. I would highly recommend reading this book.

Adventure of a lifetime... or is it just the beginning of more?
It's a nice twist that this story involves a magical camera and has actual photos of India in it. Containing illustrations deftly drawn by 11 year old Ananya Chopra, this will appeal even more to young readers as a way to follow along with the story line... and what an intriguing tale it is. Sid is a lucky young boy taken on a business trip to Agra, India, where he is befriended by the son of the businessman his dad is meeting. When disaster occurs in the form of a broken camera he is able to buy a second hand one from the market... and so begins the adventure of a lifetime... or is it just the beginning of more? With many interesting facts about the Taj Mahal, a step back into history, and even a few Indian words woven into the story, this will keep readers engrossed from beginning to end.

Magnificent
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this beautiful novel set in one of my favourite places; Agra, the Taj Mahal. This story surely gave me an insight into the happenings during the construction of the Taj.

Beautifully Wrapps Together a Fun Story With Historical Sites and Times
The story moves along nicely. I like how it ties familiar things like visiting a famous building into the extraordinary, such as time traveling and visiting that monument when it was being built. It developed the young protagonist in a fun way, and delivered on the mystery that they embarked to solve. A great book for younger readers.
