This is an upgrade from the original Mangroomer that I had and only have positives to report. A few initial observations. 1) the new unit is shorter but not by enough that it’s even noticeable. 2) the new unit seems to run at a higher speed but is a little louder. 3) the additional larger head is awesome for grooming large areas. 4) operation is identical 5) the older units heads work with the new unit. I’m keeping them as backups. 6) I like the design of the new charging cable. The old 1 required additional space based on the design and the cord coming off the bottom of the unit. 7) The added storage case is a great addition! Like the older unit it’s really easy to use, has great battery life and the handle extension makes it easy to reach anywhere. I don’t have great shoulder flexibility and can easily reach a and groom my entire back. If you are looking for a men’s body groomer, I’d highly recommend this. The last 1 lasted me for years and I see no reason that this new unit won’t last and perform just as well. I had tried other products/brands before finding the ManGroomer and none lasted or performed as well.

2 years in this is the only powered trimmer that is still going strong. Build quality is excellent. It turns what used to be a chore into something easy to do in 5 min or less. While other trimmers have annoyed me or broke this one keeps going and going. Get rid of the safety razors and sketchy handles. You don’t have to ask for help anymore to trim up. Buy this and you’ll wish you had bought it sooner.

This is the second shaver from Mangroomer I've owned. I bought the first generation/original Mangroomer several years ago. Never had any issues with it, but needed to replace it because the blades seemed to be getting dull after many, many uses. I purchased this Platinum Pro Mangroomer in May, 2021 when I saw the new, wider blade. The wider blade is definitely an improvement. Used it about 6 times over the span of 6 months (I'm a hairy dude, so it got a heavy monthly workout). No problems until this week it just stopped running during the middle of use. Contacted Mangroomer customer service, and they responded immediately and resolved the issue straight away. Excellent customer service. My only complaint about the shaver itself is that it is a little difficult to remove the top of the trimmer head to clean out the hair. Instructions show to just press up with both thumbs. The top is on there pretty tight. Thought I might break the plastic trying to get it off. I found that prying it with my fingertips similar to opening a pull-top pop can worked best, but it still took quite a bit of effort. I recommend this product and Mangroomer to anyone who regularly battles body hair.

TL/DR: I don’t recommend the PLATINUM PRO. If your hair is coarse, thick, or sensitive — or if you just want a smooth, painless shave — this unit probably won’t deliver. Unless they seriously improve the blade performance, I’ll be looking for something else. I recently bought the MANGROOMER PLATINUM PRO Back Shaver (ASIN B07VSGPWYP) hoping to replace an old unit that served me well for years. Unfortunately, after just a few uses with this new unit, I’m left feeling let down. First and foremost: the blades. Compared to my old shaver (which lasted many years), the platinum-pro blades don’t feel nearly as sharp or effective. I found myself pressing harder and running multiple passes over the same area — and instead of a smooth finish, it felt like ***hair was being pulled***. That tugging sensation made the shave uncomfortable and left my skin irritated once or twice, which defeats the purpose of a “shock absorber” / flexible-head design that’s supposed to be gentle. The advertised features — the 2.7-inch ultra-wide blade head, multiple attachments, extendable handle, and shock-absorbing flex necks — all sound nice on paper. ([Amazon][1]) In practice, though, none of those features make up for the fact that the blades just don’t cut cleanly. The shave ends up uneven, patchy, and sometimes painful. I also expected better battery life and ergonomic advantage. The unit is marketed as a “do-it-yourself” back shaver that should glide seamlessly across skin. ([Amazon][1]) But because I have to press harder and go over areas repeatedly, the ergonomic benefit is lost — I end up with sore arms and longer shave sessions. To be fair, the extra heads and wide coverage seem like they could be useful. But none of that matters when the core function — effective, safe shaving — fails. The extended shaver works great. It does take practice. Using the wider attachment is a little hard on my skin, once I got used to it. It worked great. I would give it a 4 STAR. I did purchase three other items at the same time. The head shaver, the ear & nose trimmer, and the body groomer. The body groomer works good But it did pull a few hairs. So it too, requires practice. I would give it a 4 STAR. The nose and ear trimmer SUCKS ASS!!! Don’t buy. For that trimmer, don’t waste your energy buying it. It will disappoint. I would not give a 1 STAR. Later on I purchased some Bluetooth Wi-Fi smart tweezers, they work great with my cell phone for my nose and ear hairs, I can’t see. Next the body trimmer it works great while giving a good shave real close to your balls. Most of all it takes practice. So take your time. An electric shaver near my balls is kind of scary. Especially when it pulls a hair or two and it did. I would give the body trimmer a 4 STAR. Now for the complaints, you already know how I feel about the nose trimmer. Next The head shaver I used it once, Then it died and never worked again and that sucks because I liked it. I would give it a 4.5 STAR. But It quit working so a 1 STAR, unless you have a head trimmer that keeps working then it’s a 4.5 STAR. Well, I hope the company MANGROOMER. Takes care of me on their platinum pro edition’s. If not I’ll never change this post. But I was told that if you have a problem, man-groomer wants you to contact them directly. So they can take care of it for you. I don’t know. I will give it a try. I only ask because I am over my return time with Amazon. Like I was only going to use the head shaver twice a year. But after the first time I used it, it died. After all I bought the Platinum Pro Edition by Man-Groomer shaver and trimmers. So I expected it to work as advertised it was the best they had. This is my 3rd mangroomer product and it restored my faith. I loved my first back shaver by mangroomer - no frills, $70 (which struck me as quite pricey many years ago, but it worked well for a long time, so I softened on that opinion). Then my 2nd mangroomer, which was an upgrade to one level higher in the product line absolutely sucked...flimsy, loud, didn't last a year. I researched all kinds of other options, but couldn't find anything that quite had the same features so I decided to go for the higher end option and pray that it was worth it...it has been, I'm happy again, more solid, less noise, easier to use, wider shaving surface makes things go quicker. I recommend this one.

[Updated review - 3.5 stars] 5-stars for customer service regarding my original issue below. I emailed them on a Saturday and received a reply on Sunday! I appreciated their urgency with a rapid response and the resolution to my concern. [Original review - 2 stars] Stopped working 1 yr & 7m after purchase- I had the highest hopes for this product & reviewed it diligently before purchase. While I didn't like the quality, I stuck with it because it did the job. Last week the unit didn't start even after letting it sit until fully charged. The battery makes knocking sounds when shake the unit so assume it's dislodged or something else. Either way, I'm not going to make another job for myself and field strip it to determine the issue. I'm in the process of contacting the company since it's still 2 years within purchase.

I don't usually write reviews for products unless they're exceptionally good or extremely bad. As it is the former with this product. I am a VERY hairy guy and I have been buying dozens of hair grooming and hair removal products for the thick black hair on my body. I was primarily looking for a body razor instead of a back razor but I decided to try this out as it also works for the rest of your body. The instructions were clear on a little card that was sent but there was a HUGE instruction manual that came with it. I didn't think it was that difficult to use so I decided to figure out how to use it myself. The blade that came attached on the razor was ok for removing my thick hair at first. After having some trouble getting certain thick hair off, I was able to get it off with a slow back and forth shaving motion. I'm a guy who likes to shave my entire body and make sure no hair stands out. So essentially, I needed a clean shave and the card that came with it said to use the foil head razor to get the shorter hairs out. I was SHOCKED at how easy it was to get the remaining hair off once I shifted to the foil head. I have never used a foil head before so that was part of the excitement as I saw how efficient it was at removing short tiny hairs to make my skin look completely hair-free and smooth. The battery life on the product was even more incredible. I was able to do a near full-body shave with this product right out of the package. I can't even explain to you how long that is as I haven't shaved my body in over 6 months and again, I'm a VERY HAIRY guy. I think this is honestly one of the best products I've ever bought from Amazon. The price is definitely worth the experience that I had using this product. In fact, I think this item is a STEAL for the price it's displayed for. 3 razor blades, a backshaver, incredible battery life, and an extended arm hinge for $50? I have had no regrets since purchasing this item.
