Super fun! It is a story where Papa Hare trying to feed his family out smarts Lazy Bear. I never saw the ending coming! So much fun! The illustrations are great, they story is fun and interesting with a new twist and great ending! Review: A Kid’s Gardening Must! - I love this story. Not only will kids learn about the parts of the vegetables and how they grow, there are life lessons to be drawn out (hard work, laziness, know the facts before you make a deal)!

A cute and silly book
This is a cute story about a rabbit and a lazy bear. I read this book to my preschool class last Spring and they loved it. The rabbit or hare family do all the work while the bear sleeps away. This is a great story showing how plants grow. Some on the top of the ground, under ground and some like corn will grow in the middle. It is a very cute book and in the end the bear learns a lesson.

Fun book to read!
I absolutely LOVE this book. The illustrations are fantastic. This book lends itself to reading in voices if you are so inclined this way. I'm a teacher and this book has so many facets to it--directionality of the layout of the book (vertical instead of the usual horizontal), a funny moral lesson, and references to previous folktales...it's funny and the kids love it. Lots to discuss makes this a valuable read aloud. (PS. I read the hare's words with a southern drawl. I read the bear's voice in a big, grumpy grouchy style.) A valuable book to any classroom teacher's read aloud library.

Requested by a five-year-old
A little one of my acquaintance checked this book out from the library, and liked it so much she wanted her own copy. I obliged. I won't recount the story, which is well covered in the book description. (This is a short children's book, after all.) While I wasn't happy to see the bear portrayed as a lazy layabout, I thought it was a cute book. Some have criticized it as glorifying the hare for tricking the bear. But the world is full of tricksters, and another message is that you should understand a deal before you agree to it. The hare and his family worked hard. And so, eventually, did the bear. So chill and have some fun with this book.
