Toasting Marshmallows: Camping Poems

We recently went on a camping trip and I purchased the book along with a poetry writing book for my daughter. We read a poem and then she would try to write one on her own. It encouraged her creativity. The poems were written in various forms and even shapes within the book. Fun and very cute.

The poems in this book deviate from silly, nonsense poetry often encountered in children's poetry books. The use of imagery along with the illustrations make this a beautiful book all around.

Loved the poems and the book is beautifully illustrated. This will be fun to pass around and let everyone read aloud around the campfire. We have three 6 year olds in our group and they should have no problem reading most of the poems.

Amazing poetry that embraces the great outdoors. More appropriate for 8 years and up. This book really expresses many aspects of camping in thought provoking ways. It's a winner!

Excellent birthday gift for kids that camp. The imagery of the poems is lovely and illustrations very well done. We keep this in our camper and my 5 yo boy loves it. Perfect introduction to poetry.
