If you’re looking for these you want the real thing, not ordinary brass wire.These are real, has the flux coating which helps keep the solder iron tip clean and in good condition.

How did I get along all these years without this product? No more wiping the hot iron on a wet sponge and having to wait for the iron to get back up to the correct temperature again. My tips stay much cleaner with far less oxidation on them which extends the life of the tip. I am very impressed. I would buy again and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who does soldering.

I purchased a pack of similar pads for less than the price of the Hakko for my Hakko solder station. The cheapie pads quickly unraveled so I purchased the OEM version and was not disappointing,I spend 3-4 hours a day on the bench soldering and still have to stuff this pad back into the holder every week or so but it is holding up well and I will be buying a Hakko replacement.I doubt there are better versions of this product. Good but not great!

This is the first time Hakko has (slightly) let me down. All their soldering equipment is top-notch so I expected a dense, tight ball. The one I got is a bit loose compared to other no-name wire balls so it takes more thrusts and twists to clean the tip. It still works of course just not as easily as I expected.

For decades I've used a barely-moist sponge to clean my soldering iron tips during use. Then I came across the idea of using something like this, so I ordered one and used it to replace the worn-out sponge in my soldering station. It works great! Better than the sponge. Tarnish, excess solder, and even plastic (from when I use the soldering iron to "drill" a hole in a plastic project box) readily comes off. I'm sold.
