American Star
Review Wow the author really knows how to bring the drama thrills and feels to a story. This book was excellent from beginning to end a true rags to riches with abit of raunchy suspenseful elements involved. This is definitely not your boy meets girl and they are falling in love happily ever after type read. This book and characters take you on an emotional and crazy ride of death despair and spite filled with trials tribulations and retribution. All the characters journeys were intertwined, but yet their individual journeys kept you in great rapture in every page turned. There's so many moving elements and they circle back around but what you think is the right moment is always the turnaround for something more aggressive and mind boggling with the characters. I truly would recommend this book to my Goodreads followers friends it's worth it. Long lengthy and intense!

Jackie Collins Does It Every Time!
I used to read Jackie Collins when I was young, the great part about her books is that they appeal to pretty much every age, if you enjoy her writing. They aren't targeted for any particular demographic. I'm older now, but thought I'd try reading one of her books again, and I learned that I still get a kick out of her stories. This is a wonderful book with alot of fun elements that make it hard to put down. She knows how to make her audience want to KEEP reading! I kept wondering WHO these characters are loosely based on, its intriguing. American Star is one of her finest, in my opinion. Not too heavy, easy reading, and definitely CLASSIC Collins.

My first Jackie Collins novel, I'm totally pleased.
I have to admit that I've never read a Jackie Collins book before so I wasn't sure what to expect. Wow is what I got from this book! For there to be so many different characters in the book, such diverse backgrounds, Jackie Collins has the gift of tying them all together, of explaining each background without inundating you with details, and letting you fall in love or hate with each character. I totally enjoyed the way the story develops into nearly being there, almost there, no chance of getting there and finally thru so many events, it all works out for the best. Would I recommend this book? Absolutely, its so well written you just don't want to put it down because as sure as you do, something else will happen.

Good read
Loved this story of Nick and Lauren and their long road of trying to be together. There were a few side stories involving Nick's sister and her crawl to stardom and that of the tangled childhood of this trio in their hometown. I have read many Jackie Collins books and can't think of even one that wasn't a really good read. This one is no exception!

Good book but too long
The book was good but went into way too much detail and it just kept on and on.The end kinda left you hanging.

Classic Jackie Collins — I loved it!
Just what I love about her books—you can hardly put them down! The characters are fleshed out so completely that you’ll find yourself thinking about them, even when you’re not reading the book. Three kids from a small town each make it big in their own way. Overcoming their wretched former lives wasn’t easy and took a toll on them all. Nick, Lauren, and Cyndra all had dreams. This is the story of their successes. Read it and enjoy!

Fast, exciting and 100 percent Jackie Collins!
I first read this book in high school and loved it. 15+ years later and it is just as good as I remember. I love the characters, the drama and the sense of hopefulness of the story. It's definitely a Jackie Collins novel and full of plenty of sex, drugs and Hollywood but it is a fast and fun read!

Queen Jackie does it again.
It's a re-read for me. I read it a while back, but I wanted to revisit this book. Jackie Collins is the queen of sexy, epic, larger-than-life books about powerful people, people who make their way, people who fight dirty for what they want. Love this book.Recommended for those who want scandalous stories about celebrities.

An amazing read, as usual
What is there to dislike? Her use of the language in always providing vivid true to life characters that makes the reading a pleasure. I love her language skills and style in achieving such amazing realism that can only be Jackie Collins.

Incredible.
This is without doubt the grittiest of all the Jackie Collins books I have read so far. Although it still has all the elements of her other books, sex, fame, murder etc. the characters and plot are so much deeper and darker than any of her other creations and it works fantastically well. When I bought it I was expecting something much more light hearted, but I am so glad that I was wrong! I found myself getting truly emotionally connected to certain characters, and at one point found myself close to tears, which is rare for me when reading. I think it worked that the focus was mainly on the two main characters, rather than flitting between a variety of them as in her other books, so she was able to delve fully into their back stories giving them depth and developing them to the extent that you feel you know them personally.I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

Loved the story but don't know if I like Jackie's ...
Loved the story but don't know if I like Jackie's crudeness, she's a great writer but not my thing, and I'm not a prude, I enjoyed 50 Shades of Grey.
