Works good for what it was made for!
It is made tough, handle is thick enough to be comfortable to hang on to and enough weight to do the job with less effort!

Works exactly as it's designed to
This did exactly as it was designed to do. As a heads up this a very labor intensive tool! However you will go through endless weed whip string trying to cut down stuff this is intended for. As you can see in my photos it cut down all of the overgrown weeds on a property I have, some of them were pretty large in diameter. It isn't very good on some grass, because the grass just bends to easily instead of being sheared off. The bolts will get loose if the blade hits a hard object, so just keep an eye on them and tighten as needed to prevent the handle from splitting.

Weed cutter
This is a very sturdy tool. It’ll wear older guy like me out. It does what it’s made for. It’s easy to use and worth the money.

Manual Grass sling/whip
I have not used this yet but have examined it closely and have the following observations.1. The sling/whip is made well and is very solid.2. The handle is solid wood, heavier than steel tubing but weight is an advantage with this type of cutting tool.3. There is supposed to be a hole towards the top of the handle for hanging/a short lanyard to wrap around your wrist, but mine did not have a hole - I will drill one!4. The double sided blade has a heavy rubber like paint covering it - both of the "cutting edges" should be "hit" with several passes using a metal file just to get the coating off the "cutting surfaces" - which reveals fairly sharp edges, solving what some people have observed as "dull" blades.5. You must be very careful with this tool, any distraction while using it may result in bad cuts or abrasions to your legs or to other people's appendages. The tool is made well and should last years with occasional tightening of nuts and occasional light filing of the 2 cutting edges. Enjoy

Well made, but difficult to use
I needed to clear some high grass and swung this around for about 15 minutes before giving up. It didn't cut the high grass, only beat it down. It's very well made, but didn't work as expected. We returned it.

Sharpen it first!
First off, don’t listen to anyone who tells you that serrated blade cannot be sharpened. That is simply a myth, and always has been. As is true with the vast majority of edged tools, this tool is shipped with an edge but not sharpened. The factory grinds an edge down as finely as is safe for shipping. They don’t want the liability of warehouse workers and truck drivers cutting themselves on their tools during shipping so MOST edged tools (e.g. machetes, garden hoes, cultivator forks, pitch forks, axes, etc.) are shipped dull but with the edge ground in. This tool is no exception. The entire blade arrives painted to prevent rust during storage and shipping, but you can easily see the edge. Simply take your file and/or stone and sharpen the edge as you would sharpen any other tool. Once sharp, it cuts well. While the product listing was clear, holding it in person surprised me. First because the handle is shorter than I would have made if I were building this tool. I’d like the handle to be about 6 inches longer. Oh well, it’ll do. Second it surprised me because the handle is thicker than I expected. The diameter of the handle reminds me of the grip area of a baseball bat. The entire tool has some weight to it. It’s hefty. The weight aids in putting some power behind your swing to slice through the vegetation.A word of warning: Make sure that no one is around you while you work this and make sure others know not to approach you. This tool could put a serious gash in someone’s leg! I plan to drill a lanyard hole in the end of the handle so I can put a wrist lanyard on it so it doesn’t slip my grip and fly away. As I said, the tool is on the heavy side and losing your grip on this could seriously injure someone nearby.

USELESS!
OK. I purchased this for the in between times. In between the weed wacker having string and my husband reloading the string. Sometimes you just get tired of asking. FYI, not allowed to touch his "tools" for anyone thinking "she should learn to do it herself." I grew up on a farm. I even bought my own weed wacker and some how it miraculously found its way to camp and he keeps forgetting to bring it home. HMMM. This isn't brain surgery and I've used similar tools in the past. Seems sturdy. Not too heavy. I would say it's good quality YAY USA! My problem is it's dull as crap. The blade that it has is difficult to sharpen. Also you better have an all-star batters swing and the room to swing it to get anything done. Waste of money. Still waiting on the weed wacker ;(.

Sturdy effective tool
I bought this tool to do trail maintenance on some overgrown paths I run.I couldn’t tell by the pictures how strong the metal arms would be and was worried it wouldn’t take the beating I was going to give it.Well fear not, this thing is a tank. Solid handle is beefy, if you have small hands this might be a slight issue. The metal arms didn’t budge and the hardware included also seems sized appropriately.I spent four hours just absolutely beating this thing while trimming grass, weeds, thorns, cactus, …horse poop (oops) and even small branches. By the end the “toe” nut had come slightly loose but it easily tightens back up.I hit several rocks but the way this tool is designed the cutting “notches” or whatever you’d call them are unaffected. My only gripe would be the handle is about 4” shorter than I’d like. I’m very tall though so probably not a big deal for most people.I’m glad I chose this one, it seems like a tool I’ll be able to use for a long time.

Excellent tool for clearing ferns and foliage.
Tool works great for clearing ferns and foliage. Heavy grass is a bit of a challenge. We added tape to the handle to provide a better grip. We liked it so much we bought a second unit.

Heavy duty manual weed wacker!
This weed cutter is strongly structured with a hefty weight so when you swing side-to-sideyou chop down thick weeds or even shrub stems especially if they are dry. Because it is heavy and the handle is somewhat short it is awkward to use for an extended period of time. A longer handle would elevate the rating to 5 stars! It has held up well so far.
