Cate's Garden Bypass Pruning Shears 8” Premium Hand Pruner - Heavy Duty SK5 High Carbon Blades – Ergonomic Angled Design for Pain-Free Cutting

The care of my mom's 50 year old rosebush fell to me so I decided to give these pruning shears a try.I was not disappointed.Holding these pruning shears in my hand, they feel just right.Not heavy not flimsy, just right.And I like the non-slip, slightly cushioned grips.Examining the shears I see that there are no sharp edges other than the blade.These are well made and can be used in either hand.I got down to pruning the rosebush and like the way the shears cut.Really smooth and easy.Not just due to the sharp blade but also because of the angled cutting head.This made for less hand & wrist strain even though I spent spent 45 minutes trimmingthe rosebush (it's 7 feet tall).Other that the scratches from the thorns, I enjoyed trimming the rosebush with thesepruning shears.I also like that you can register these pruning shears for a lifetime warranty and a gardenpruning ebook.I am quite satisfied with my purchase of the Cate's Garden Premium Bypass Pruning Shears.

Very sharp and comfortable to use, however there are several drawbacks to this pruner.One, when trimming soft tropical branches such as bird of paradise and wilted brown banana leaves, often times the branches will fold in between the blades rather than cut. I tried tightening the pivot bolt without much improvement.Second, the spring is marginal at times. If there is sticky sap on the blades, it will not open readily.Third, if your hand is wet, it is a little hard to hold onto the pruners as it lacks finger groves on the handle so it tends to slide.Overall, they are very good pruners and will gladly keep them, but they could be a little bit better.

It worked great for a while until the wire that made the handle spring back dropped out. Lasted 1 week.

The media could not be loaded.  These are pruners that won't end up in my  Grizzly H2924 Garden Too Length Bag  anytime soon because they are easy to carry and access in the back pocket of most any work in the landscape pants. When Cate's Garden got a hold of me and asked if I'd try out her pruners I accepted and quit honest I was thinking it would be just like most of the other pruners I have tried over the years. I do LOADS of pruning weekly out on our 17 acre property filled with numerous gardens, orchards and woods in Ohio. The products were shipped quickly - I was kind of shocked at how fast they arrived but even more surprised when I opened the box to see a 'Exclusive VIP membership invite (photo below) Unique and a super nice way to show that Cate's Garden cares about who is using her tools. Usually when a tool breaks you have to dig around for the box or receipt. This is really cool because all the information you need is easily accessed online at CatesGarden.com/vip. You can ask questions and even return your tool if need be BUT I don't think you'll be doing that anytime soon.At first grab of the bypass pruning shears I love how they can be used by lefties or righties! I'm a lefty so many times the shears feel awkward. These were very comfortable and easy to cut through the  Pink Don Juan Fragrant Climber Rose Shrub 1 Gal. Live Plant Roses Zone 6-9 NOW!  that needed some cleaning up this morning ( in photo). Another cool thing about this pruner is the easy to lock closer at the bottom of the tool.. Okey-doke...so I've been doing a lot of "cutting back" around my garden and landscaping (mostly due to drought conditions, we've cut way back on water and my garden is showing it) and I wanted to do some work on my rose bushes. My old bypass pruners are fine, they do the job but I have been finding them more difficult to use during the past ~ one year as I have developed carpal tunnel syndrome. This pair I've been using (prior to the purchase I'm reviewing here) has more of "cylindrical"-type handles and they tend to slip, meaning I have to grip them tighter, which hurts me. I wanted a pair of pruners that had a better grip and would also do a really clean job.These definitely fit that bill. Really really easy to hold and REALLY easy "squeeze." I don't have to apply much pressure at all in order to cut, they don't slip and they cut very cleanly. Blades are long enough to get "in there" and clip at a good angle without getting scratched, but they're not unwieldy-long, basically the length you want to clip back or deadhead on a small bush.They look exactly like the picture, so no "what? This isn't what I thought I was buying" shock. (Pics attached plus a pic of a cut end of the bush, the flower went right into my vase on my dining room table. :) )I also like the locking mechanism which basically just pulls right closed, but also flips open easily.I have bought from this company before and will again...quality item.

The shears are attractive and well made. They are very light weight and easy to grip for my small hands. They have a nice safety lock guard at the end. They can be registered for a lifetime guarantee. They cut through a 1/2” limb with relative ease. These are a good addition to any gardeners tool kit.

it is a nice pruner, very sharp and easy to use the locking clip sometimes get in the way but i would definitely recommend it

Wir hatten die Schere auf Empfehlung eines Freundes bestellt und sind sehr zufrieden. Die Schere ist robust gebaut mit scharfen Schneiden, liegt gut in der Hand und schneidet auch dickere Äste ohne grosse Schwierigkeiten. Man muss relativ wenig Druck ausüben. Hab es mal dem Schwiegervater gegeben, der damit einmal durch den Garten gegangen ist und sämtliches Ast- und Strauchwerk bearbeitet hat. Mit den Premiumprodukten von Wolfs und Gardena dieser Welt hält sie zumindest seiner Einschätzung nach mit - und er hat schon einige Jahrzehnte Gartenarbeit hinter sich ;)

Cortan perfecto. Llevamos tiempo con ellas y estamos encantados. Son las primeras que uso de este estilo así que no puedo comparar con otras.

Pruners arrived promptly and are well packaged. They are very good quality, strong aluminium metal handles and very sharp blades. Nice clip to close blades when not in use. Easy to use by pass pruners.Extended warranty available by joining VIP membership.Would highly recommend.
