Quality Remote Speaker Mic
These mics are pretty legit. Speaker Quality: The speaker quality is pretty good just as long the user on the other end does their part in speaking into the mic correctly. I have the MR350R waterproof version and the remote speaker is pretty close to the quality of the handhelds speaker. The remote speaker does have a bit more treble to it but not bad enough to where its a problem. Durability: The plastic housing isn't the thickest, but thick enough to where it is durable enough for normal use unlike the remote mics for law enforcement. The feels very sturdy and durable. Only gripe about the cord is that it is quite short and the coil makes it tight from waist to lapel. Some may want this but if it weren't as tight and uncoiled easier then it would probably be better. !!!UPDATE!!! I used this remote speaker mic for 5 days while snowboarding. I wore it on the strap of the backpack where it was exposed to snow and cold constantly. I'm not the best snowboarder so I was in the snow all over the place. The mic isn't labeled as water proof or even weather resistant but it definitely got wet and still works like a charm. The clip was strong enough and never fell off of the strap even after all of my spills. I love this thing and want to use it every chance I get.

looks very promising
I have only had it about a week, but I needed it to use with my Motorola Walkie Talkie. I walk about 2 miles a day even in the the cold weather we had this season. My radio kept dieing out when I tried to use it to talk to my husband on my walk from home to a high school on the other side of I96 here in Redford, MI. The cold was a major factor and I tried insulating the radio but it still was dieing out a few days after recharging my batteries. I could have recharged the batteries every couple of days that would have helped, but I try to let them run down before charging. Plus pushing the button is cumbersome with a hand that has to have both a glove and a mitten on to keep reasonably warm. I did buy another small set that had an earphone, but the sound was not loud enough, I may have dome some damage to that set that caused that problem, don't know, but needed to try something a little more workable so we bought this, and I clip it on the pocket just below my collar and put the radio inside my coat which is in the middle of the coat above my waist. So I was able to find a good position for everything and so far this has been my best solution. I will probably even use it in the summer because of the ease of use. My husbands voice comes in loud and clear and it is minimum inconvenience to push the button even with a double protected hand. The button is longer than the one with the earphone, it works great.

nice works well
i bought this because when i do my volunteer work it is extremely hard to hear. so with this one i could hear everything that goes over the radio. THIS IS A 1 PIN REMOTE SPEAKER. YOUR RADIO NEEDS TO HAVE A SLOT FOR 1 PIN TO USE THIS. pro. -built nicely -able to have the radio on low and still be able to hear everything (keep in mind of the noise around you) -push to talk built in con -i use a safety pin so i could attach it my uniform better. may pull the clothes down a bit (need to break in the wires has to be looser) this is something small this does have a clip on the back of the speakers but i dont like to use it. overall price cheaper now compared to when it first name came out (about $15 less) sound good just overall its very good. i would recommend this.

Nice Mics
These Motorola mics worked great for our GMRS radios. Our crew prefers using these in the attics instead of pulling the walkies out of their pocket or belt clips. Speaker: - When you plug in the microphone the sound you hear come out of the mic - When you press the transmit button on the mic or the radio the microphone acts like a microphone. - Sound quality is nice - Volume is adjustable by volume control on radio Cord: - My main gripe is the cord - The coiled cord on the new mics are tight from waist to shoulder - By stretching the coil out this problem goes away. Almost wish that the cord came pre-stretched so the new cords weren't so tight. Clip: - The clip clips at the top of the mic. - It would have been better if the clip swiveled on the back of the mic as everyone doesn't like to clip the mic on their shoulder lapel or collar. I prefer the mic in front of me and being able to swivel the clip would have been a major plus. Quality: - The mics are high quality and work well. Out of the 8 I ordered I only had to return 1 due to failure right out of the package. Overall, great mics at a descent price. At first the cord will be annoying but with time it should stretch and work better on adults. May look a little funny though if all your kids had these mics on their shoulders. People may give you strange looks.

Impressive for the price
Excellent quality, especially for the price. I mostly use this for snowboarding and it functions perfectly in temperatures near 0F. Sound quality is similar to that of my radio speaker (MS350R). The metal clip is durable and holds on well. I bought this thinking I would get a few uses on cold days before it broke, but I've used it every weekend this season and it still works like new.

Lasted only a month
Ordered 4 of these microphones to go with our T460 talkabout radios. Each microphone worked well for about one month. Sent them in for warranty and replacements were sent back to me. The replacements only lasted 30 days. I called and sent emails to Motorola solutions to warranty or get my money back. Got the run around on the phone and on emails. Then I received an email stating that the warranty was out just a few days after it expired. I stated my case showing my previous emails and they came back saying that warranty is not valid for use in a work area they are only for recreational settings. My opinion is these microphones should last in a clean shop setting if they are used for recreational. I will not be buying these again they are junk from China. Since then we have purchased Arrowmax APM250-M2 IP56 and so far they have worked great.

NOT capable of truly hands-free VOX
I bought two of these to use with my T460 radios. The description says it enables "hands free" communication and it's only compatible with VOX-enabled radios. I understood this to mean I can turn on VOX, pin this accessory to my lapel, and transmit communications by simply talking into this accessory. However, that is NOT something this accessory enables you to do. If you enable VOX, you must still speak into the RADIO MIC to initiate transmission. The accessory mic is NOT sound activated. Worse still, when you push the PTT button on this accessory, it automatically turns off VOX. In short, this accessory is NOT VOX CAPABLE. You MUST push the external PTT button on this accessory to activate its microphone. So this part of the description is extremely misleading: "With Motorola's 53724 Remote Speaker with Push-to-Talk Microphone, you can talk on your two-way radio hands free." This is technically true, but only if you duct tape your radio to your face and speak into the radio mic, whilst this accessory plays the role of an external SPEAKER ONLY. And if you accidentally push the PTT button on the accessory (which, again, will automatically disable VOX), you will need to un-duct-tape the radio from your face, cycle through the menu options to re-enable VOX, and then re-duct-tape it to your face. And you'll need to accomplish this using only your feet, otherwise it's not a true "hands free" experience. Also, this accessory has a simple PTT button, which means it does not support the dual-power transmission that radios like the T460 offer via their 2-level PTT buttons. In other words, this accessory is not "PTT Power Boost" capable. Lastly, I will caution you about mounting this accessory too close to your ear (e.g., your lapel). If someone initiates the Emergency Alert Button found on many Motorola radios, this accessory will automatically play a distress tone (think of it like a really annoying ringtone) AT FULL VOLUME FOR 8 SECONDS. Yes, it will automatically override your volume setting. It will then transmit an additional 22 seconds of the Emergency Alert Button presser's voice (more specifically, any sounds that are picked up by the presser's radio mic, as it automatically goes into a VOX-enabled state for those 22 seconds). Imagine this: you and a friend are out camping/hiking/hunting/whatever. You've got your fancy new external speaker/mic mounted on your backpack strap, just below your ear. Volume is at a comfortable 25%. Your friend gets injured and presses the Emergency Alert Button for 3 seconds. After a deafening 8 seconds of beeping, your accessory will continue to emit your friend's voice (presumably groaning, screaming, cursing, etc.) AT FULL VOLUME for 22 seconds. Hopefully they have time to read off some GPS coordinates to you, because now you'll need to home in on their location by listening for screams with your 1 remaining functional ear. To reduce this risk, consider mounting the accessory further from your ear, such that your comfortable volume setting is closer to MAX volume. Lastly, I'll mention that this accessory is roughly 19 inches long in its un-stretched state. This is the approximate length needed to go from a belt-mounted radio to a lapel, without stretching, on an average man's torso. If you're much shorter, you'll have some slack cord to address, e.g., by mounting the radio on the opposite hip and running the cord diagonally across your torso (or rubber banding some cord around your belt clip, as shown in pic and explained below). Conversely, if you're much taller, your radio might need to be belt-mounted directly under this speaker accessory, and you'll need to anchor the cord to your torso (shirt, backpack straps, etc.), otherwise the stretched cord will either pull itself out of the radio or pull the external speaker off of whatever you have it clipped to. If you have cord slack to spare, consider anchoring the cord to the radio by wrapping it under the belt clip and securing with tape, rubber bands, etc. This will help prevent cord tension from accidentally unplugging the external speaker accessory. How you accomplish this will vary, of course, depending on your radio. BONUS TIP: Since the external mic isn't centered in the plastic housing, mounting it on your RIGHT side will actually put the mic about an inch closer to your mouth. Ultimately, I have rated this three stars, because despite the aforementioned caveats and the lack of truly handsfree VOX support, it is ostensibly a quality product that serves its actual intended purpose. I try really hard to provide product reviews that are as informative as possible, so if you found this review helpful, I would really appreciate it if you could click or tap that "Helpful" button. Thank you!

Just works, and rugged enough
I bought two of them for a pair of Motorola GMRS MH230R for skiing with family. This speaker mic just works. It has a heavy-duty rotating clip that locks at 90-degree increments, and hangs onto the shoulder belt of my Camelback, or a slightly opened zip pocket of a ski jacket no matter where you go. We skied all day in subzero (Celcius) temperature with blowing snow here and there, and snow/ice gets caught in the grill of the speaker, but the units just keep on ticking. It's loud, which is perfect for outdoor use. This thing just has a very solid feel to it overall.

Great for outdoor activities!
I got one of these for our ski trip and it was great! Was able to communicate with everyone easily and without having to dig through my jacket layers to get to the walkie talkie or missing a message. Exposed the mic to wind, rain and cold temperatures and did great, no issues of any sort and the the rotational clip helps keep it in reach easily. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to use it in an outdoor activity where you need your hands free most of the time
